Job Summary

Are you a highly motivated multi-disciplinary engineer looking to work on building projects that can change the world, projects that are always more complex and innovative than the last? If so, we are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our team in our MEP Croydon office to work across a broad range of sectors and for a broad range of clients predominantly across the South East of England. You will be joining a team of like-minded experts that have a passion for innovation and delivering cutting edge solutions.

AECOM plays a critical role in the conceptualisation and creation of amazing spaces, delivering projects and buildings that define skylines and communities. AECOM Buildings & Places is made up of dedicated teams delivering projects in Commercial, Residential, Hospitality, Sports Venues, Work Places, Education, Government, Healthcare and Defence.

We are friendly, busy and motivated with an established track record of successfully delivering local and overseas projects. Some of our flagship work in recent years includes:

The Palace of Westminster, Southbank Place, The Portland Collection, The Institute of Physics, BBC Broadcasting House, Tower Bridge to name but a few.

Established in mid-2019 our award-winning and close knit Building Services team in Croydon have grown organically across sectors, tripling in size despite the challenges of 2020. The team are seeking to expand their capabilities further by adding an Electrical Engineer to our MEP team in our Croydon office to work across a broad range of sectors and for a broad range of clients predominantly across the South East of England. You will be joining a team of like-minded experts that have a passion for innovation and delivering cutting edge solutions.

We are seeking an enthusiastic self-motivated person who has excellent written and verbal communication skills and who wants to make a difference in the electrical field of building services. We are specifically looking to appoint an Electrical Engineer who has knowledge and experience in relevant areas, is familiar working closely with clients and contractors in delivering major project. The role will provide a fantastic opportunity for the successful individual to develop their skills and advance their career, with opportunities to get involved in large and small projects across a variety of sectors.

Duties of the role will include, but not be limited to;

*

Receive a brief from Senior Management, be able to contribute to the project management and electrical design.

*

Attend progress, design team and co-ordinate meetings.

*

Prepare outline scheme report / technical content of the design information.

*

Input to pre-qualification and selection of contractors, respond to tender queries, comment and review tender returns.

*

Attend site inspection meetings.

*

Ensure the project work complies with the Project Management Plan and Programme.

*

Prepare specifications, schedules, drawings and any other contract documents developed through the RIBA stages.

*

Ensure that all design information and calculations are prepared and signed off in accordance with the requirements of the QA procedures, relevant Standards and Codes of Practice

*

Be competent with electrical engineering calculations (Amtech, Dialux etc.).

*

Understand and implement AECOM’s Safety Health and Environment Policy.

*

Obtain the necessary information both internally and externally from Architects, Quantity Surveyors and Design Consultants for the design to proceed. Liaise with clients, professional organizations, contractors, suppliers, sub-contractors and other design Identify and meet effectively the requirements and expectations of clients

*

Be familiar with the BIM design process

Minimum Requirements

*

Work experience within a similar consultancy or other relevant business

*

Be able to regularly base yourself within the AECOM Croydon office in order to ensure face-to-face contact time with your team

*

Effective communication skills and be a team worker

*

Ability to speak fluently and communicate effectively in written reports and oral presentations

Preferred Qualifications

* BEng for a relevant engineering course (MEng preferred)
