Electrical Design Engineer (Southern Water) - (180000W5)

Role Overview:

Reporting to the Design Manager with responsibility for
managing all aspects of electrical design including site surveys of existing
assets, optioneering and feasibility studies, assisting with tender pricing, production
of procurement specifications for electrical equipment and production of
detailed design construction drawings. Managing
third party designs and providing design assistance to installation and
commissioning teams. Liaising with
clients and subcontractors. Working as
part of a multi-disciplined team of engineers responsible for the design
management of water and wastewater treatment plants.

The
role will be based predominantly at our office in Havant with occasional travel
to client’s offices and to both water supply and wastewater treatment sites
associated with Southern Water Non-Infrastructure Framework Agreement during
the AMP6 period, likely to be extended to 2025) for the delivery
of design and build water and wastewater projects as required across West
Sussex, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

The
conditions of contract for the main contract are NEC3 Option C with Z clauses. The conditions of contract for subcontracts are
based on NEC3 and aligned with the main contract.

Management Input to related aspects including estimating,
design and supply chain procurement.

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting into the Design Manager you will be responsible for the below aspects:

* To
ensure effective EICA coordination across assigned projects; support the tender
team, the supply chain, design to ensure the most cost efficient and effective
delivery of EICA elements of projects/programmes of work.

* Working with the Estimating Team to provide
technical support on all aspects of EICA project scope during pre-target cost setting
phase, ensuring accurate costing is achieved

* Responsible for the coordination the delivery
of all aspects of EICA work on allocated Projects/Programmes of work, working
closely with and providing support to the site delivery teams

* Work in tandem with Mechanical to
ensure right first time solutions are implemented.

* Support Project Manager in all EICA
related matters from subcontract tender enquiries, subcontract interviews,
subcontract detailed design and delivery


Experience and Qualifications:

To be considered for this role you will be able to demonstrate the below skills and experience:

ESSENTIAL

* Substantial and relevant industry experience
covering both water and waste water and a sound understanding of treatment
processes with a demonstrable track record of delivering water and wastewater
non-infrastructure projects including experience in design and build EICA installation

·
Understanding of NEC3 conditions of contract

·
Procurement and management of subcontractors

Education/Qualifications

Essential

·
Engineering / Technical qualification or equivalent in Mechanical
or Electrical Engineering (degree preferred)

·
Preferably registered with the relevant Institution

·
Relevant CSCS card

·
Strong background in Water / Waste Water (or related engineering
industry) project delivery and design

·
Contractual knowledge in NEC forms of contract

·
Knowledge of current legislation

·
Strong drive to lead a safety oriented culture

Skills

·
Ability to work in a team environment contributing across a
business unit or area

·
Good management skills with the ability to motivate employees to
achieve high standards of compliance

·
Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills;
able to manage projects simultaneously without compromising standards and
quality

·
Sound knowledge of the water industry

·
Ability to ensure standards and specifications are met

·
Ability to work with senior management to set operational targets.

·
Excellent negotiation and diplomacy skills.
