Electrical Assurance Lead, Hinkley Point C (HPC), Permanent, Competitive Salary and Benefits

The Opportunity

As the first of the UK’s next generation of nuclear power stations, HPC is a vital part of the UK’s future energy strategy and is both of high profile and high complexity. Its delivery will be reliant not only on innovative engineering and construction but also on the strongest of leadership and technical qualities amongst its staff.

Site Operations is a multi- disciplinary team that provides support functions to HPC, that due to the scope and complexity of services it provides must be fully integrated with all contractors and other site functions, in order to remain aligned with construction planning and philosophy.

The requirement is for an Electrical Assurance Lead to join the Site Operations team at HPC, accountable for setting technical standards for the installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of electrical utilities.

The Person

As a subject matter expert, you will assess and prioritise key deliverables within service areas such as transport, bussing, catering, facilities management and utilities provision. Throughout the project, you will ensure technical standards are met through monitoring compliance and safety rules.

You will be accountable for the following main responsibilities:

• Liaise with the Designer, Construction Engineering and Site Engineering to develop and agree technical standards for electrical utilities

• Review technical designs and procedures to ensure the electrical utilities will meet the required standards

• Monitor adherence to the established standards

• Assess operational experience feedback to determine any applicable lessons for Hinkley Point C or the wider Nuclear New Build

The Skills

You will be able to demonstrate:

• Degree in a relevant engineering subject or equivalent experience

• Knowledge & experience of HV and LV electrical systems design, installation, testing and maintenance

• Knowledge & experience of HV and LV electrical systems switching, isolation and control including safety rules

• Knowledge of appropriate Regulations and Codes of Practice including Electricity at Work Regs, BS 7671 IET Wiring Regulations and associated COP, National Grid Code, Electricity Connection Standards of Performance

• Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation including HASAWA, CDM
