GM IT APS eSolutions provides business-aligned production services to support the GM eTrading and eCommerce Systems. These services range from maintaining and improving the availability, integrity, performance and capacity of Electronic Markets platforms, to providing and developing governance of process and technology standards.

The eCommerce team is mainly in charge of Client/Sales Facing applications and Digital Banking applications.

Job Description

The role is within GM IT APS eSolutions Application Production group responsible globally for technical support and project deliveries.

The Production Engineer will be part of a multi-disciplined, providing support to the production elements of the e-Commerce applications and will also be involve in project delivery.

The BAU support is mostly performed by off shored teams. The team load in Paris is 30%/70% (BAU/project)

The role requires a wide range of technical skills. The Production Engineer main responsibilities are:

Pro-actively monitor, manage and improve availability and performance of the production environments (from presentation and application layers to middleware and databases)

*

Provide escalation coverage in the “Follow The Sun” support model

*

Pro-actively manage the capacity of production applications

*

Customize production tools (monitoring, batch scheduling, backups, deployment tolls, automation)

*

Provide feedback and propose solutions to management on performance, capacity

*

Manage eCommerce projects : involvement in application design/architecture, set up environment, put in place the production standard tools

The Production Engineer will also work with other teams to respond to incidents and resolve issues promptly, often under pressure, to restore normal services to the business. Therefore, ability to be on call and provide support out of hours is essential in addition to the early/late shifts.

As this is a production support role, focusing across a range of different technologies, candidates must possess the aptitude and desire to learn.

Skills and Experience

Candidates must have a number of years’ experience in a production application support role, the majority of which should have been gained within an eCommerce area.

It is essential to have proven experience within an investment bank supporting eCommerce, eTrading and digital banking systems.

Role Specific Technical Skills

Production experience must include:

*

System administration – Good experience on Windows and Linux/Unix systems is required, including: IIS, .NET, WCF, IBM WebSphere Application Server, Apache, Tomcat and Java EE

*

Networks – a good understanding of network principles and practical knowledge of load balancing technologies, ideally F5 Big-IP is essential

*

Monitoring – strong, practical experience of at least one of the following: Geneos, Introscope, Dynatrace, Witbe

*

Scripting development with Python, Shell and SQL and experience using them for administration, monitoring and with support tools.

*

Test tools experience. It is desirable to have practical experience of Jmeter

*

Practical knowledge of performance and capacity management from an application, database and network perspective.

*

ITIL exposure

*

Knowledge on the following technology is desirable: Kafka, Prometheus, Ansible, Springboot, Docker
