What is the purpose of the role?
We are currently seeking a mechanical & electrical engineering technician to ensure that all equipment associated with our sewage treatment works are running safely and efficiently using both proactive and reactive maintenance methods. You will need to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair as appropriate, electrical & mechanical plant equipment. Working within the maintenance team you will follow robust maintenance plan as well as getting involved in minor installation projects, electrical fault finding and emergency breakdown repairs to ensure our plant operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

What will this role involve?
This mechanical & electrical engineering technician role will be working in a multi discipline team, with the following responsibilities: Carry out scheduled planned maintenance work in compliance with company procedures in order to minimize plant breakdowns.
Investigate the nature of plant failures and subsequently carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible in order to avoid interruptions to the process.
Carry out the repair and maintenance of electrical motor drive systems and associated control systems including Inverter drives.
Carry out the installations, refurbishment and commissioning of mechanical plant to specification and on time.
Investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carry out repairs during incidents.
Providing technical advice where appropriate; making reference to up to date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
Participate in a stand-by rota following the relevant training.
Examples of equipment you will be working on will be: Various pumps and associated control gear, 3 phase motors, starters and controls, Electronic control systems such as VSDs, Automatic valves and penstocks, Flow, level and pressure measurement, Programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, Chemical handling and dosing equipment.

Are you an apprenticeship-served Technician?
Do you have experience working with industrial plant equipment?
We are looking for a combined mechanical / electrical qualified Technician with similar experience in a related industry.
Experience and working knowledge of large pumps, actuated valves, electronic control systems such as VSDs and 3 phase electrical switch gear is essential. Computer literacy and the ability to input data on bespoke software is required. Due to the nature of the role a valid driving licence is essential.
The work will require physical fitness; so you will need the ability to work in confined spaces with successful completion of the appropriate training.
