DESIGN THE FUTURE WITH A GLOBAL TEAM OF EXPERTS

We are looking for a Director to support our Engineering Geology team, giving you the opportunity to co-create with our experts on some of the most prestigious infrastructure programmes in the UK. Working alongside our team of experts, you'll work on some of the UK's most complex and challenging projects.

Your role in our team will be to provide technical delivery on projects, business development, bids/tenders, client liaison and supporting the engineering geology team involved on a variety of hard rock tunnelling projects and other civil engineering schemes. Where required, you'll act as the leader for technical elements of complex projects, giving advice to the client and their representatives whilst also overseeing, reviewing and approving designs and monitoring progress.

On a day-to-day basis, you'll be responsible for:

* Deliver highly complex technical expertise to concept designs and projects, with particular emphasis on hard rock tunnelling.

* Planning and development of hard rock tunnelling expertise across the UK business.

* Oversee the management and performance of a portfolio of projects.

* Supporting the management of a team of engineering geologists.

* Ensuring that design, assessments and checking of designs are in accordance with the current Standards and Codes of Practice.

* Approval of designs, assessments and calculations in accordance with quality procedures.

* Support in the management and coordination of work undertaken by external sub-contractors and design checkers.

* Identification and Liaison with clients including maximising business development opportunities where possible.

* Preparation of bids and tenders when required.

Furthermore, you'll;

* Hold a chartered status (CEng) and be experienced in the CRE role

* Possess extensive experience of geotechnical/engineering geology working within a consulting environment on tunnelling and underground structures projects

* Have high level technical skills in the application of soil mechanics / rock mechanics, rock mass behaviour / groundwater behaviour and soil / structure interaction to: shafts / excavations / hard & soft ground tunnels / foundations. You will also be familiar with finite element analysis

* Be an accomplished team leader, business developer with the ability to support, mentor and develop less experienced engineers
