An exciting opportunity exists to join the central Preconstruction team in the role of Digital Construction Manager. The primary objective is to define, develop and implement new digital processes and practices, enabling the Estimating team to transform to a new way of working while ensuring we maintain standards, continually improve and deliver best value to our clients. Based out of the Head Office in Camberley, but working from any location, you will report to the Head of Estimating and lead a small team of Digital Construction Specialists.

Your mission

Define
Assess the current process workflow and practices to identify priority areas for developing and implementing lean digital tools and techniques.
Understand the requirements of the Estimating process, the contributors, customers and stakeholders.
Understand how Estimating interacts with Proposals, Planning, Digital Construction, Commercial and other Preconstruction and Business Excellence functions and teams, centrally and in business divisions.
Share knowledge with other BAM Group companies to exchange good practice.
Develop
Develop proposals to improve the management of information from successful prequalification through to handover of successful bid information to project teams and closing the cycle with feedback from projects.
Align workflows with current BAM Group Digital Best Practice.
Identify, configure and test digital techniques and software that will improve current practices.
Implement
Prepare and deliver briefings, reports and training to raise awareness and facilitate adoption of new techniques and software.
Facilitate and manage access, licences and permissions for existing and new software for the Estimating function.
Enhance the digital capabilities of the central and divisional Estimating teams and promote the digital services and advice offered by the central team to bid teams and projects.
Become a subject matter expert and point of contact for advice and support.

Who are we looking for?

You should have an enthusiasm for digital transformation to meet the requirements of internal stakeholders and our clients. You should be motivated to analyse Estimating processes and workflows, identify potential improvements and explore and develop digital solutions to manage information effectively and efficiently.
Core competencies
The following are prerequisites for the role:
• Ability to motivate and lead a team, and work in a team environment
• Ability to use time productively and efficiently to meet challenging work goals
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
• Desire to pursue innovation, development and education in Digital Construction technology
• Aptitude for investigating and assessing software tools and techniques
• Attention to detail and good analytical skills
• A recognised academic qualification at Diploma or Degree level in Construction or related fields
• Typically a minimum of 5 years’ experience working on construction projects.

Preferably the candidate will also have:
• Knowledge of Preconstruction generally, and Estimating in particular
• Commercial awareness and knowledge of project commercial functions and processes
• Knowledge of common forms of contract and experience of contractual relationships
• Knowledge and experience in Common Data Environments
• Knowledge and experience in common software applications and platforms used in Digital Construction
• Knowledge of ISO 19650 1 and 2 and associated PAS/BS 1192 codes.
