Digital Communications Manager - Sizewell C

The Opportunity

EDF, one of the country’s largest energy companies and the largest producer of low-carbon electricity, is looking for a Digital Communications Manager to play a key role in our growing communications team at Sizewell C.

The Digital Communications Manager will oversee all our online platforms and channels and will be responsible for developing social/digital content for diverse audiences. The person appointed will be experienced in running integrated social campaigns, from strategic planning through to content creation and post campaign evaluation. They will be the guardian of our reputation online and curator of all our social/digital output.

They will have creative flair, superb organisational skills and will be able to speak with real authority to senior managers in the business. The Digital Communications Manager will report to the Head of Communications. The role will be based in London although the individual will have frequent contact with the communications and stakeholder engagement team in Suffolk. The Digital Communications manager will also work with our retained communications agency, our in-house brand consultant, and members of the EDF Digital Communications team.

Digital/social strategy

* With the Head of Communications and our retained agency, develop a digital programme across different channels in support of the wider communications strategy.

* Provide strategic advice to senior members of the project on digital campaigns, including paid campaigns, and work with our communications agency to deliver them.

* Coordinate with other content and digital specialists in EDF to make sure our digital strategy is consistent and avoid conflicting campaigns.

Content management of Sizewell C website

* Set the standards for our online content ensuring our website is compelling and tailored to different audiences.

* Manage and curate content making sure blogs, official documents and press releases are uploaded and that the site is fully up to date.

* Use Google Analytics and other tools to measure and report on key performance indicators for the Sizewell C website. Develop a strategy to maximise SEO performance.

* Ensure web presence is aligned with rest of the website (corporate, customers, HPC) and participate in website governance and technical forums.

Content creation using graphics and photography and distribution on Sizewell C accounts: Twitter, LinkedIn & Facebook.

* Lead the drafting of our content calendar for all three channels, making sure content is compelling, relevant, and has the appropriate tone of voice.

* Lead the implementation of paid digital campaigns, ensuring they have a clear purpose. Set the KPIs and measure performance.

* Work with brand consultant and others to design posts which have impact using text, graphics, and photography.

* Post content and promote to appropriate audiences using tools such as Elevate & Hootsuite.

* Manage scheduling of content using Hootsuite and through liaison with EDF Digital team.

Monitoring key issues on social media and, where necessary, prepare rebuttal

* Provide digital and social campaign measurement using tools such as Brandwatch to understand response to paid campaigns and other communications.

* Liaise with our moderation service and be first port of call when issues need to be escalated.

* Prepare lines for rebuttal on social media in consultation with communications team.

* Participate in the EDF social media community and follow the company processes for social moderation.

The Skills

* Wide experience in planning, creating, and distributing high quality content which has real impact.

* Good knowledge of UK policy and politics, particularly around energy issues, including nuclear, renewables, net zero and climate change.

* Experience in running digital and social campaigns, including paid campaigns.

* Good understanding of tactics that can be deployed to engage and target different audiences.

* Proven ability to grow and sustain an online community.

* Strong understanding of measurement platforms and how data can inform future decision-making.

* Demonstrable flair when it comes to creating content for use online.

* Proven experience in web content management (e.g. WordPress, Drupal); proficient using HTML and CSS.

* Experience using video/graphics software e.g. Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator (preferred but not essential).

* Good knowledge of social tools such as Google Analytics, DC Storm, Hootsuite and Brandwatch.

* Excellent literacy skills with an ability to write accurately to tight deadlines.

* Ability to recognise areas of sensitivity and opportunity and to exercise good judgement in fast-changing circumstances.

* Ability to give trusted advice to senior managers and to speak with authority in a multi-layered organisation.

* Ability to work as part of an integrated team, under their own initiative with great people skills and emotional intelligence.
