EDF is leading the UK's nuclear renaissance with the construction of a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C. This will provide low carbon electricity to meet 7% of UK demand. We are also working with our partners to develop two new nuclear power stations in the East of England – Sizewell C and Bradwell B.

It offers innovative energy systems for commercial customers and digital innovation for customers at home. EDF Energy has also launched its own innovation accelerator, Blue Lab, which focuses on making customers’ lives easier.

We are looking for a DevOps SME who will do more than just create CI/CD pipelines. We are looking for a DevOps SME who will have that something special, can bring their own thoughts and ideas to ensure that the creation of our CI/CD automation across multiple platforms will enable and ensure the quality, reliability, stability and security of systems, processes and services across all our business units.

The Person

* Lead the creation and enhancement of Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) automation across multiple platforms; own associated tooling; work with stakeholders and Business Units to understand CI/CD requirements to construct the roadmap and inform the strategy.

* Lead engagement with software developers and infrastructure engineers to integrate software development and delivery from inception to full operation, ensuring robust released software and systems.

* Lead on the creation and enhancement of dynamic monitoring and alerting solutions using industry leading services and working in collaboration with the EIT Tooling and Data Team.

* Develop automation to ensure security across a geographically dispersed hosting environment(s), identifying opportunities to further automate within the development, test and production environment(s).

* Lead on continuous improvement of existing processes such as source code management, deployable packages, release process, testing practices, application operations processes and release management; Research, initiate and managing continuous improvement initiatives and challenge the day-to-day activities to enable the improvement flow through the technology value streams to achieve DevOps outcomes which align to Business Unit requirements and increase developer community satisfaction.

* Define Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics which help to drive the adoption and performance of CI/CD processes and capabilities across EDF Energy.

* Provide technical, managerial and administrative direction for problem definition, analysis, requirements development, and implementation of complex solutions by making information technology/information management related recommendations.

* Develop the technical vision for fault tolerance, performance enhancement and configuration management of applications, and may lead in implementation.

* Develop a stakeholder engagement plan and lead engagement with stakeholders (business and IT) and communities of interest across Customers, Generation, Nuclear New Build and Corporate & Steering Functions to understand their business drivers and technology portfolios, and present DevOps practices to enable CI/CD; articulate the Cloud Centre of Excellence (CCoE) value proposition through customised engagement approaches, CI/CD demos and engaging qualified experts; build in-depth relationships with Cloud providers to support Cloud Service Design to fully leverage and optimise the commercial and financial benefits realised from Cloud.

The Skills

​​​​​​​

* Thorough understanding of overall set-up of IT Services roles played by various Service Providers

* Ability to understand the technical, contractual, financial and operational aspects of SIAM and their relation to business objectives

* Demonstrable experience of a range of assurance methods to gain confidence in service support: such as QA, audits, inspections or other reporting approaches; through knowledge of quality assurance and quality control procedures and standards.

* Ability to advise IT project and support teams on support risks and compliance requirements.

* A degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience.

* Experience of DevOps principles & practices.

* Certified DevOps Institute DevOps Foundation or equivalent

* Certified AWS Cloud Practitioner / Certified Microsoft Azure Infrastructure and Deployment

* An ITIL/IT Service Management qualification;

* Qualified to the appropriate level in an Information Systems Examinations Board (ISEB) qualification
