Your Role and Responsibilities

As a DevOps Engineer, you'll use your expertise in the planning, design, creation management and maintenance of DevOps-CI/CD pipeline infrastructures - using appropriate DevOps tools and techniques - to ensure that IBM systems conform to exacting standards and quality metrics. This role provides the unique opportunity to put your own stamp on the DevOps initiative in newly formed Development Squads in London.

Role and Responsibilities:
• Design, build and maintain DevOps-CI/CD pipeline infrastructures in cloud that are highly available, fault-tolerant, performant, and secure
• Continuously improve data platforms and code pipelines
• Work collaboratively within an Agile team of cross-functional engineers
• Use & evangelize best practices in continuous integration and delivery
• Report on DevOps results and escalate/resolve issues in a timely manner
• Work collaboratively within an Agile team of cross-functional engineers

Required Skills:
• Experience with cloud-hosting solutions and maintaining DevOps-CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Travis etc.
• Manage source control including SVN and GIT
• Working knowledge/experience in deploying microservices on Kubernetes, Dockers or similar
• Experience of such tools as Relic and Contrast in DevOps Pipelines
• Experience implementing and maintaining DevSecOps frameworks and practices Working knowledge of deploying data pipelines, Airflow, Spark, Kafka
• Experience in managing Linux/Windows based infrastructure
• Experience with IBM Cloud or similar services (Azure, AWS, GCP)
• Write scripts and automation using Perl/Python/Groovy/Java/Bash
• Assisting developers in debugging application build, deployment and connectivity issues
• Automate OS and application deployments (server, configurations, application code)
• Solid knowledge on Agile methodology and practices, such as SCRUM, Extreme Programming (XP), Test Driven Development (TDD), etc
• Work with Developers/Automated Test specialists in integrating Automated Tests into DevOps-CI/CD pipelines
• Experience working with relational databases and/or NoSQL databases
• Comfortable multi-tasking and working as part of a global team, as well as working independently and taking ownership.
• Good understanding of Software Development Lifecycle
• Excellent communication skills both verbal & written, and excellent teamworking skills

Preferred Skills:
• Experience working on enterprise transformation of monolithic application architectures to microservices
• Experience using modern collaboration tools in a highly-responsive environment
• Great planning and organisational skills, good time management, with the ability to manage and prioritise own workload and to deal with urgent deadlines and changes to requirements
• A passion for creative solutions to real user needs and business problems
• Logical approach to problem solving and meticulous attention to detail
• Highly motivated and productive, an entrepreneurial self-starter
