Edwards Ltd is part of the Atlas Copco Group and are world leaders in the supply of gas abatement equipment to the semiconductor industry. The Clevedon site is a Centre of Excellence in the design, development and manufacture of equipment to remove harmful gas emissions, including global warming gases, from the process of manufacturing silicon wafers.

The Exhaust Gas Management systems are manufactured to meet customer specific requirements with a high degree of configuration and customisation. The existing installed base of 10,000 units is distributed throughout the global regions i.e. US, Europe, Asia and Japan.

Edwards' Clevedon have an opportunity available for a Development Engineer within the ETO Department.

To design and develop modules/sub-assemblies of new products in accordance with Edwards’ Product Commercialisation Process (PCP)
To verify that the designs meet the requirements and conform to the relevant design standards by calculation and/or testing as appropriate
Accountable for the design and development of sub-assemblies of a product ensuring the specified quality and cost are achieved to the agreed task time scale
Accountable for the detailed documentation of the design (models, drawings, design data, BOM, test data) ensuring all relevant information is recorded in a timely manner in accordance with TCF requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

A good mechanically biased engineering degree (or other relevant engineering qualification with 2 years industry experience)
Experience in product development and introductions is an advantage
Knowledge of design for manufacture and design for assembly
Experience in the use of a range of engineering materials and with several manufacturing methods/techniques
3D and 2D CAD skills (CATIA, Visio, AutoCAD and/or other drafting tools)
An understanding of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and system schematics
Results Orientation - focus on delivering to project milestones and timescales
Positive attitude and ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
Understand key technical deliverables and requirements and can report concisely to more senior engineers and the project manager
