A Designer career at Alstom is like no other. You’ll be assisting our dynamic design teams on a host of ever-changing opportunities and challenges, from providing our clients with cutting edge design solutions, developing new technology and equipment, identifying and implementing new robust processes – all in order to meet the demands of the modern railway. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of Alstom signalling technologies ranging from our SMARTLOCK 400T system, Modular Control Systems and Vital Harmon Logic Controller (VHLC)
Your focus will be to produce and deliver safety related Signalling design deliverables in accordance with the client specific requirements, appropriate railway standards, technical constraints and Alstom company procedures, under the guidance of the Principles Designer and the Design Delivery Manager
Our roles are based within our Signalling Design Centres in Birmingham, Derby, Radlett and York. These centres of excellence undertake signalling design and system engineering activities that support numerous projects. These projects are multidiscipline, complex and are strategically important to our clients. Our engineering teams are supporting some of the most significant projects within the UK, including re-signalling and enhancement projects and the wider digital railway initiative
In addition to being able to demonstrate that they have the knowledge and experience to undertake the above, the successful candidate will specifically hold a current IRSE 1.1.510 Designer License and have an HNC/HND in an engineering discipline, as a minimum. Furthermore, you will also be able to demonstrate your capability of understanding and following design processes, to implement technical solutions and improvements and to be an effective communicator who is enthusiastic, self-motivated, and takes pride in their work
