Job Specification

Job SpecificationWill your next career move see you put your operational experience and passion for delivering excellent customer service to the test by joining the leadership team within Affinity Water’s Developer Services department?

If you’re experienced in the design of new water networks and have a good understanding of responsibilities under the Construction Design and Management Regulations (CDM), this is fantastic opportunity to join our forward-thinking team.

Your next role

When you join the Developer Services team as Design & Technical Lead, you’ll be responsible for the overall success of the design function within the department, including our responsibilities under CDM.

You’ll manage three Designers and be responsible in ensuring high quality design output from the team. You will also adhere to our levels of service and ensure developer customers receive their design in line with service level agreements.

Using your technical expertise, effective leadership and communication skills, you will ensure designs facilitate customer and operational requirements and ultimately provide better customer outcomes, improved compliance with water quality and improved quality of adopted assets.

You’ll also demonstrate how to manage and promote H&S through design decisions and be an effective presence on site during construction. As a leader within the department, you’ll share your knowledge to coach and develop our teams on effective design and construction management.

What do you need?

You’ll have experience working in a similar regulatory environment and have a proven track record of working in a design/engineering function. Water/wastewater or broader utility sector experience is beneficial but not essential.

You’ll be well-versed in the requirements under CDM and be familiar in setting up processes and procedures to ensure compliance against such regulations.

You’re a self-starter who’s comfortable working to tight deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.

You will need a full UK driving licence to travel between sites.

What's in it for you?

There couldn’t be a better time to join the team as we’re on a journey to transform the service provided to our developer customers. We’ve made huge progress so far and this is a great opportunity to develop this role in your own way.

The work you'll do is also essential for Affinity Water to meet its regulatory targets and continue to deliver safe, clean drinking water to 3.6 million customers every day. In return, you'll be entitled to a host of benefits including competitive salary, double-matching SMART pension scheme, and a holiday allowance that increases with length of service. So the longer you stay, the more you gain.

Ready for your next challenge?

Get involved in the story behind your drinking water and be part of our vision to be the leading community-focused water company.

and follow the quick and easy application questions to submit your interest. Everyone will get a response.
