We have a fantastic new opportunity for an Design Manager to join our successful Building Southern business unit. This role is based around the South East/London/Guildford ears.

Role Profile

You will support the management of the design processes and information flow on Design and Build Contracts and other as applicable, you will also assist in the management of CDP Packages as well as the following additional support: Participate in creating a knowingly safe working environment
* Apply CDM 15 and principle of prevention and safety in design
* Assist in the selection and appointment of design consultant, as required
* Ensure the design scope of works is understood
* Contribute to value engineering and buildability of the project by developing innovative design solutions which will add value to projects and provide competitive advantage.
* Ensure designs are produced in a timely manner to meet programme requirements
* Monitor design process and provide update to the project manager
* Ensure designs are complete including drawings, specifications and schedules
* Liaise with the site team to provide buildability input.
* Establish temporary works (TW) requirements and liaise with site team to produce TW design briefs
* Ensure all designs are compliant with contract requirements and works information
* Identify the design approvals required and ensure information flow to the client, GT Team and subcontractors
* Lead design meetings and ensure minutes are produced and distributed
* Identify design interfaces with GT team and specialists and manage them in a timely manner
* Understand professional services agreement with the designer and support commercial team as appropriate, especially with design changes
* Appreciate target cost allowances and ensure designs are within the budget, liaising with commercial team to seek advice
* All residual CDM risks to be clearly identified on the drawings and communicated to the team

You ideally should also have a good working knowledge of the following: Health & Safety at Work Act
* Construction (Design & Management) Regulations (2015)
* Design Management Tools, IRS, MIPD, DRM, Programmes
* Design Information: Drawing Types, Specifications, Schedules Reports
* A Common Data Environment: VfP Approvals Process
* Statutory Approvals; Building Control, Planning Process, CDM 2015, Fire Safety
* The RIBA Plan of Work
* Contract Law
* Must have experience in education/schools
