About the role

Balfour Beatty Vinci has an exciting opportunity for a Design Interface Manager to join our team to work in Birmingham.

Role Purpose:

Responsible for integration and interface management between one or more of the following interfaces with the BBV design delivery team: other HS2 designers (EWC, MWCC, MWSC, Rail Systems); external bodies, including Highways Authorities and Network Rail.

What you'll be doing

As a Design Interface Manager your accountability will include:

* Managing the interface between BBV Design Delivery (Sublot) teams and other external design teams and/or approval bodies. Responsibilities for interface management will be for a single interface or multiple interfaces, dependent on the project stage and the individuals experience;
* Early Works Contractor. Scheme Designs and Detailed Designs.
* Other Main Work Civils Contractors interface for spatial coordination of works, common design elements and collaboration on workstreams e.g. HS2 Specifications , Works Information. Note some interfaces will be managed directly by the Sublot Design Manager where a single geographic interface;
* Main Works Stations Contractors (Interchange Station and Curzon Street);
* Rail Systems Contractor. Design interfaces between civil design and rail systems design, including interface for external approvals (e.g. Town & Country Planning, Common Safety Method);
* Network Rail. Interface with the conventional railway (West Coast Mainline connections and rail crossings). Undertake CEM or CRE roles;
* Highways Authorities (Highways England and local highways authorities);
* Interface management is to include temporary and permanent works design interfaces;
* Prepare Design Interface Control Documents for each interface and monitor to ensure effective management and control by the relevant Design Managers

Who we're looking for

The ideal person will have the following background and experience:

* Qualified Senior Civil Engineer or similar equivalent, with multi-disciplinary breadth relevant to the scope of responsibility;
* Excellent communication skills;
* Understanding of the construction environment for safe and buildable designs;
* Experience of working with a major design consultancy and major contractor;
* Highly organised with good management and coordination skills;
* Working collaboratively in teams;
* Working knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations.
