Design Coordinator – Greater Manchester, North West – CAM Framework (Rail)

Murphy Group are looking to recruit a Design Coordinator to join the Engineering team based in Greater Manchester, North West to work on our CAM Framework with Network Rail. Combining remote working with office-based work and site visits, this role will cover schemes from London Euston to the Scottish Borders on the LNW Route.

The Design Coordinator will work closely with external design consultants, internal Design Engineers, external subcontractors and the CAM Engineering Team to control and develop designs through to implementation, as well as directing and managing pre-construction activities such as surveys and ground investigation works. You will also be heavily involved in Temporary Works design and management and dependent on your level of experience this can be a mentored as part of the role to begin with.

The value of schemes can range from £50k up to £4m, with a variety of disciplines including Structures, Earthworks and Drainage.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a candidate to towards becoming a Contractor’s Responsible Engineer on the CAM framework.

The Project

The Civil Asset Management (CAM) team work with Works Delivery of Network Rail to deliver Maintenance Works and Reactive (emergency) works along the LNW Route. Remitted works through the CAM team are of a value up to £100k, with emergency schemes and Business Plan tendered schemes with value of above £100k up to £4million.

About you

* Some experience in a design coordination role ideally in rail or heavy civils

* HND or Engineering Degree qualified

* Experience of undertaking or coordinating design within civil engineering

* Management skills – confident managing staff, clients consultants and programmes

* Flexibility and willingness to travel
