Role Profile

You will support the management of the design processes and information flow on Design and Build Contracts and other as applicable, you will also assist in the management of CDP Packages as well as the following additional support: To the development of tender submissions, inputting into the final submission to ensure the design complies with the ER, Statutory Criteria and Specifications.
* Assist the development of the design in line with the RIBA Stages, and have a sound working knowledge of the criteria for each stage.
* Support the development of the design to “Construction Status” to meet the ER, CP’s and Contract Conditions within the agreed programme constraints, and in line with Budget.
* Effectively support the management of the design process to comply with the policies and procedures contained within the Galliford Try Business Management System and Town Planning, Building Control, and all Statutory Requirements, BREEAM and other as applicable.
* You will have BIM Capability, to support the development of the BEP and oversee Information Management Protocols.
* Recognise Contractual, Financial, Technical and Operational Risks and to find Opportunities and Value Engineering, to minimise risk and maximise profit potential on contracts.
* Give support to both the Pre-Construction and Construction stages.
* Promote our Business Values, Excellence, Passion, Integrity and Collaboration.
* Play a supporting role in the review, research, understanding and implementation of innovative design solution to every stage of the design process. As well as supporting the achievement of the quality aspirations of the project with on site reviews, along with Project Management Team.
* Assist in the development of the Project O&M, capturing As Built information.

You ideally should also have a good working knowledge of the following: Health & Safety at Work Act

Key Responsibilities Assist the Design Manager in co-ordinating the design process in association with the contractual obligations of the Lead Consultant/Lead Designer/Lead Co-ordinator.
* Assist the Design Manager to implement all functional policies in line with the Galliford Try BMS.
* Assist the Design Manager to develop for the Consultants scopes of works, development of the Appointments and measure delivery in line with the agreed documents.
* Prepare Reports, sometimes chair and ensure recording of DTM’s and Workshops. Challenge Designers and hold them accountable, as necessary.
* Assist the Design Manager and work with the Design Team to support the timely production of information to meet the Contract Programme requirements.
* Assist the Design Manager to review and monitor the development of Design information, using VfP, for completion in line with the Programme, specifications, and CP’S.
* Apply Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (2015), and encourage, where relevant, the Principles of Prevention. Ensure Designers identify risks and residual risks.
* Assist the Design Manager and contribute to Value Engineering process, buildability whilst ensuring that you do not become a “Designer” under the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations (2015).
* Assist the Design Manager and GT Team, inputting into the Risk and Opportunity Register and supporting the PEP.
* Assist in the securing of Statements of Compliance from the Designers.
* Assist the Design Manager with information flow to the Client, GT Team, Design Team, and Supply Chain Partners.
* Support the management of and monitor the Lead Consultant/Lead Designer/Lead Co-ordinator to confirm that compliance and approvals with the relevant statutory bodies are being managed in accordance with the Contract Programme and contract.
* Support the management of the ‘Lead Consultant/Lead Designer/Lead Co-ordinator’ to ensure they are proactive in resolving design interfaces with support from the GT team and Specialists.
* Support the management of the ‘Lead Consultant/Lead Designer/Lead Co-ordinator’ to ensure they are proactive in setting up ‘Co-ordination Workshops’ with GT, Specialist Designers and Supply Chain partners requesting minutes and actions from those sessions.
* Support the management of the ‘Lead Consultant/Lead Designer/Lead Co-ordinator’ to ensure they are proactively managing and are providing updates from sessions held with the Compliance Team (Building Control, Fire Safety, CDM Principal Design Advisor, BREEAM Consultant, Planning Consultant and other as applicable) requesting minutes and actions from those sessions.
* Assist the Design Manager in working with the GT Team and Designers to provide design solutions that comply with budget constraints, equally, challenge the Designers accordingly.
* Assist the Design Manager to support the generation of tenders.
* Assist the Design Manager to propose the allocation of resources to project(s).
* Manage the Lead Consultant/Lead Designer/Lead Co-ordinator to provide a final status information, which records As Built status where required.
* Develop professional relationships with internal and external, resource, customers, and stakeholders.
* Support the achievement of the annual financial budget (operating profit) for the Business Unit.
* Assist the Design Manager to propose resources for projects.
* Identify and implement Best Practice.
* Support the process of assessing, preparing (including post-tender activities), validating, adjudication ad final submission of tenders on time and to the required quality.
* Support negotiations with the customer for the design solution retained at the end of the bidding process.
* Support the commercial relationships with customers, consultants, contractors and subcontractors during the tender and fulfilment processes.
* Assist the Design Manager to implement the Design Management Strategy in the Business Unit.

* Relevant CSCS Card
