Your opportunity

Are you curious? Do you like driving the use of the latest technologies to solve business problems?

We work in partnership with some of the biggest clients in the world. We’re not looking for people who can just fix stuff; we want you giving our clients elegant solutions to their complex problems. You’ll work alongside a team of engineers with a diverse range of skillsets where your ideas are valued. We’ll help you skill-up and improve in the areas that excite you.

Deloitte Cloud are looking for Cloud/DevOps engineers who are passionate about building applications at scale in cloud platforms such as AWS. You will have a background in the design, automation, deployment and operation of cloud infrastructure and applications.

Deloitte is an Advanced Partner with Amazon Web Services (AWS). We have teamed up with AWS in Belfast to develop our own training and innovation programme. As a commitment to all successful candidates we provide you with dedicated time and support to develop your skills towards certifications in AWS and other technologies. You will also get the chance to work directly with AWS solution architects and be part of a programme to pilot new and beta AWS services.

Deloitte Cloud is an evolving enabling capability within the world's leading professional services firm.

Your role

Your role will have multiple responsibilities depending on the project type. In one project, you might build an application optimised for the cloud, using automation to test and deploy the application into production. In another project, you might convert a manual runbook or provisioning processes and automate them using tools such as Ansible or Terraform. From an operations perspective, you will be required to set up monitoring and alerting for AWS workloads so we can support our clients’ needs on an on-going basis.

• You have a passion for technology
• You will understand what it takes to deliver and support high quality solutions that align to the needs of our clients
• You will develop scripts to automate the deployment of AWS architecture and solutions
• You will be responsible for securing clients’ systems and protecting their data using best of breed tooling such as Splunk and DataDog
• You will capture and share best-practice knowledge within Deloitte cloud teams
• You will be a problems solver and will troubleshoot and improve existing DevOps processes as well as provide support and advice for development teams
• You will be a self-starter and will actively recommend improvements to supported applications to increase resilience and performance
• You will be curious and want to develop your knowledge of all the current and future technologies we leverage
• You will be a strong communicator
• You will be a decision maker
• You will be willing to participate in a Tier 3 on-call support rota

Your work, your choice

How long does impact take? How long is a piece of string? How many seconds does a solution contain? How can we possibly tell? After all, impact can be huge or small. Immediate or years in the making. At Deloitte we believe the best impact is the value we add, not the hours we sit at our desk.

We, therefore, carefully consider agile ways of working, both formal and informal, that allow for the best impact for our people and our clients. If the working pattern you are looking for is not specifically indicated below, we are happy to discuss alternative arrangements.

Location: You will be based in our Belfast Lincoln Building office with the occasional requirement to travel to other Deloitte and client sites

Suggested work pattern: Permanent full-time

Your professional experience

To be considered for the role you will have:

• Experience administering Linux and/or Windows workloads in a Cloud or Virtualised environment
• Experience of automation and provisioning approaches, using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Chef or similar
• Demonstrable experience in one or more scripting languages, Bash, Python, PowerShell or similar
• Knowledge of agile software development tools and methodologies (Continuous integration, GitHub, Jenkins or similar)
• Ability to adapt to new technologies, learn quickly and pass on this knowledge to other team members
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations

• Experience with container-based development approaches
• Experience with AWS Serverless stack

* We develop talent: we develop high-performing people and teams through challenging and meaningful opportunities
* We drive performance: we deliver exceptional client service; maximise results and drive high performance from people while fostering collaboration across businesses and borders
* We believe positive influence can make an impact that matters: we influence clients, teams, and individuals positively, leading by example and establishing confident relationships with increasingly senior people
* We move, together, towards a strategic direction: we understand key objectives for clients and Deloitte, aligning people to objectives and setting priorities and direction
