DESIGN THE FUTURE WITH A GLOBAL TEAM OF EXPERTS

COWI are looking for a Deputy Development Director, who can be based at any one of our office in either London, Bristol, Derby, York or Glasgow. The initial programme is in the south east of England and will include regular attendance on site and at the project management offices in central London.

Reporting to the DCO and Planning Manager, you'll work with the document owners to manage the application deliverables for the DCO submissions ensuring consistency with the information provided for major infrastructure programmes.

On a day-to-day basis, you'll be responsible for:

* Coordinating the production of a comprehensive deliverable's assurance plan

* Monitoring and reporting performance against the input deliverables schedule in support of effective project management and reporting

* Coordinating and manage multi-disciplinary review and assurance sessions

* Map and tracking the review process for deliverables being consulted on, internally and externally

* Co-ordinating the implementation of change control process on application documents to ensure they are consistent

* Deliver parent company project governance requirements as required

* Considering project legacy and in all decision making in the same way as cost, risk and time

* Looking for ways to encourage innovative thinking around how to improve legacy benefits

* Participate in the creation, development and implementation of Health, Safety and Welfare strategies by the project leadership team

To succeed in this position, we believe that you'll be a team player with excellent communication and decision-making skills. You'll be a Project manager with a track record of delivering projects to time, cost quality standards across all stages of project lifecycle, preferably on the production of a large volume of documents to tight schedules. You'll also have infrastructure project experience gained through infrastructure planning and delivery, ideally Development Consent Orders and an understanding of the consenting process for major UK programmes.

Furthermore, you'll preferably have:

* Recent development management or development planning experience

* Experience in delivering major projects/infrastructure projects, ideally in the transport sector

* Experience in managing delivery of large deliverables, requiring extensive integration, governance and progress reporting

* Evidence of success in forming and maintaining working relationships in a multi-disciplinary environment

* Proven written and verbal communication skills and the aptitude to rationally explain, explore and discuss consenting issues

* Demonstrable experience of successfully working in/adapting the philosophy of a ‘One Team’ environment within an NEC contract context

* Have the ability to work closely with peers to delegate and motivate individuals and teams

* Examples of exercising sound judgement, leading and facilitating decision making on complex issues among multiple parties

* Advanced Microsoft Office skills including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
