Database Administrator (DBA)

Based North West London, London

Building on our current support offering, we are strengthening the overall capability within the IT function, to act as an enabler to the wider group. The Database Administrator (DBA) work in the Business Systems Team to administer the Murphy IT database operations and maintenance in support of its data warehousing requirements.

Responsibilities:

* Good working knowledge of all Microsoft SQL database technologies (experience across multiple versions) including cloud based technologies

* Proficient in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, Client/Server Connectivity

* Administer SQL (& Data) on-premise and in the cloud (Azure)

* Establish good working practices for the SQL environments (dev/test/production). Document as required

* Data Management (store, organise, manage, administer, protect, archive) in accordance with IT & business rules

* Day to day BAU SQL maintenance tasks such as (scheduled backups, log shipping, replication, always-on, high availability, monitoring)

* Ensure the SQL estate has the relevant DR plans to support BAU data restore and the full business continuity plans

* Experience of ground up database design, using best practice, inclusive of security best practice

* Review and management to ensure SQL environment (databases) meet user requirements and implement scheduled change accordingly

* Keeping databases up to date as required

* Managing database access using best practice security models

* Troubleshooting SQL issues (connectivity, performance)

* ETL and SSIS experience to support data & reporting initiatives

* Experience of transforming on premise SQL databases to cloud technologies (SQL PaaS)

* Experience in virtualisation and clustering

* Experience in automation/scripting

Skills and experience:

* Previous experience of duties defined in “Key Responsibilities & Duties section”

* Detailed knowledge and practical experience in the following Microsoft Azure Data Solutions:

* Azure Data Factory, Azure Data warehouse, Azure SQL and Power BI

* Detailed knowledge in the following Enterprise Server technology areas: SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)

* Working knowledge of ETL and data ingestion (API knowledge)

* Deep understanding of data platform technologies

* Experience with construction processes and applications

* ITIL Foundation

* Windows Server technologies
