The European Data Hub at Sky is on a mission to bring customers more of what they love by unlocking the power of data and make Sky more relevant. We are working with the rest of Sky to create innovative data products that are going to change Sky and bring value to our customers.

What you’ll do:

– Help to lead and deliver innovative technical solutions that will meet the business requirements of our stakeholders. This will entail analysing, developing, testing and deploying the appropriate solution through the full development lifecycle and socialising this to the engineering community.
– Automate and improve development and release processes in line with industry standards and best practise.
– Actively participate in architectural and software development discussions, continually improving processes across the full ecosystem. Influence Agile adoption in the wider IT community, championing best practice and integration with development pipelines.
– Collaborate with others on the project to brainstorm about the best way to tackle a complex technological infrastructure, security, or development problem. Ensuring solutions follow established processes, agreed standards and principles.
– Demonstrate development and environment expertise, building and growing this as required in line with changes to strategy, while maintaining adherence to Sky’s cybersecurity policies.
– Certify code quality using a mix of in-house and third-party tools.

What you’ll bring:

– Comprehensive Cloud experience including migration activity and integration projects on large-scale environments.
– In depth understanding of large-scale data, such as data warehouses and their best practice and principles of managing them.
– Demonstrable knowledge use and integration of Jenkins, GIT and JIRA or other similar toolsets. Excellent Unix and Python scripting skills with experience of ETL technical design, development and support, SQL and understanding of RDMS.
– Experience of implementing transformation from legacy ways of working to CI/CD pipelines, including test automation.
– Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and a proven ability to influence technical decisions in a fast-moving commercial environment. Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with a good attention to detail, process and documentation.
– Knowledge of best practices and IT operations, CI/CD pipelines and Agile methodologies and ideally, DevOps Engineer qualifications.
