What is the purpose of the role?
In this exciting new role as part of a small team of technical experts, you will be responsible for taking ownership and governance of our leakage management data. This will include liaising with key business areas about business information management, data mapping, testing quality and change management compliance. An important part of this role will be the reviewing and assessing of data quality in our core water network systems, making recommendations for improvements and ensuring compliance to data quality standards.

The role is fundamental to the business and leakage/network strategy and one in which you can influence the embedment of data quality and governance into Thames Water. You will have the ability to challenge our existing working practices to ensure alignment with the businesses strategic approach to data governance and systems strategy. You will be faced with different challenges on a daily basis and will gain exposure to a range of internal and external stakeholders, including senior management.
What will this role involve?
Being the business lead for core business data related to water networks and leakage reporting.
Supporting the company with business implementation of upgrades to corporate systems; such as Netbase and management of data quality.
Liaison for technical support, data quality assurance and testing.
Be the main point of contact in the business for escalating data issues and proactively managing to resolution.
Proactive analysis of core business data and alignment with change management team.
You will produce data quality reports and undertake regular data audits for key system information.
Chair regular data assurance sessions with key business representatives.
Support the coordination of Standards and Best Practice related to improved data initiatives and change management.
What are we looking for?
To be considered for this role, you will have extensive experience of data analysis or equivalent, and will be confident adding commentary and recommendations for the wider business. A mathematical or computer science degree, would be highly advantageous. You will be self-driven and will possess exceptional written and verbal English and be able to communicate detailed technical specifications to non-technical business users in a clear and effective style. The ideal candidate will have experience in Access or SQL databases as well as being fully literate in MS Office including advanced Excel. You will have a keen aptitude for new systems and have some proven stakeholder engagement. Due to the nature of the role, a full and clean UK driving licence is required.
Thames Water information and salary details
This is role will be based from Reading however regular travel around the Thames Water area will be required. We are offering a salary between £35,000 and £45,000 depending on experience.
