WHAT TO EXPECT

The Analytics Centre of Excellence has been a key part of JLR’s transformation programme for three years and is tasked with creating competitive advantage for JLR through data and analytics. The team is responsible delivering high value Analytics Projects, solving our most complex analytics problems, coordinating analytics programmes across the organisation and creating re-useable data assets.

Data Engineering is the task of assembling data sets from disparate sources into a format that best enables analytics projects. It is a key part of our workload and a capability in much demand in JLR.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

* Design, create, test and maintain data pipelines to support analytics projects

* Assemble complex datasets for a range of applications and teams across the business

* Identify, design and implement process improvements in data pipelines. Automating manual processes, increase scalability, reduce run time and optimise cost.

* Build infrastructure required to support the running of data pipelines that are cost effective, robust and scalable

* Build analytic tools and solutions to support the business in data driven decision making and actionable insights

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Experiance in technical expertise in Data Engineering process, tools and applications for a range of business functions/units. In this role you'll need experiance in being responsible for data engineering work for data analytics projects – making sure data is trusted, accurate and timely. You'll need experiance in leading small sub-teams through data engineering assignments.

Essential requirements:

* Previous experience working in a team in one of the following functions; data analytics, software or application development, database development

* Experience of designing data models / data architecture

* Experience in creating tests; unit testing, data quality tests, assumption testing

* Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills

* Previous experience and knowledge of modern programming languages & scripts;

* 3+ years of Python or equivalent (I.e. Java) development experience

* 3+ years SQL development and experience in relational or no-sql databases

* Ability to communicate complex data or technical concepts to non technical internal clients

* Proven ability to lead small teams in technical assignments

Desirable:

* Previous experience in Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, GIT, Docker

* Experience with GUI based data transformation tools: e.g. Alteryx, Matillion, RapidMiner, Tableau Prep

* Previously working in Agile project management environment using Scrum

* Process oriented with great documentation skills

* Data exploration, visualisation in Tableau, Looker, Power BI or similar
