About the role
Balfour Beatty currently has an opportunity for a Core Capital Works Supervisor to join our Living Places business unit based in Telford and Wrekin.
In this varied and interesting role, you will be responsible for the early contractor involvement, planning, programing and delivery of core capital works such as drainage improvements, minor civil engineering schemes, surface treatments and carriageway resurfacing within Telford & Wrekin.
What you'll be doing
As a Core Capital Works Supervisor you will:
Support the development of the Annual Plan documents outlining core capital schemes to be delivered within that period
Engage in collaborative planning with Telford & Wrekin Council and supply chain partners
Where required support in the creation of target costs for core capital schemes managing scheme planning & programming from early contractor involvement through to completion
Work closely with supply chain partners to ensure on site issues are addressed in a clear and timely way
Ensure works are delivered to the correct specification and quality, delivering high standards of health, safety and quality
Act as the point of contact with other specialists within the business as required, whilst ensuring daily work schedules are correct and that supply chain partners are deployed in effective manner
Carry out company briefings and tool box talks
Manage material ordering process for all work gangs
Provide management reports and complete statutory paperwork as required, assisting in the management of staff timesheets, job sheets and associated paperwork
Carry out site inspections in line with the business management plan, liaising with other managers to provide best utilisation of materials, equipment and manpower
Work with the Telford & Wrekin representatives to understand priorities for short term works
Who we're looking for
To be successful in this role you will:
Be an experienced professional with detailed knowledge of highway improvement works
Be highly customer focussed with experience of working positively with different sectors
Have excellent communication skills, verbal and written with ability to deal with difficult or confrontational situations
Hold a SMSTS
Have an understanding/experience of Pitney Bowes ‘Confirm’ software
Have a working knowledge of CDM regulations
Have a proven track record of site based operational delivery
GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)
