Job Description

We are actively seeking a Control Systems Engineer to join the Northrop Grumman Engineering team based in New Malden.

As a key member of the Hardware team, this role will be managing hardware baseline updates across multiple platforms within a single programme whilst also updating technical drawings and documentation to reflect customer driven change requests.

The Hardware team is part of the Engineering department based in New Malden. The team provide hardware integration and modification, plus electrical expertise for maritime control and instrumentation systems throughout the product life cycle.

How you will make a difference

Key Responsibilities: Understand and interpret customer changes from original requirements. Specify, test and implement existing changes to COTS PLC hardware solutions on multiple platforms. Select suitable PLC I/O modules and signal conditioning hardware to interface to 3rd party marine equipment. Select suitable interface hardware to support data interfaces to 3rd party marine equipment. Produce technical documentation in accordance with company/customer procedures. Work with the mechanical & electrical design teams to modify the enclosure/panel designs. Work with the software design team to modify software solutions in line with the hardware design. Work with the Safety, Information Assurance and ILS (maintainability) teams to successfully modify the existing design and support their assessments. Demonstrate compliance of the design to customer and regulatory requirements. Work with the V&V teams to ensure that systems are fully tested and verified to the requirements where major changes are implemented Provide technical oversight of subcontractors by inspecting and approving services provided Manage & ‘impact assess’ the C&I Signals Database due to customer driven change. Support the preparation of contract changes and proposals. Working directly with Supply Chain team to provide estimates and create purchase requisitions for hardware. Be aware of and comply with company standards of conduct and all relevant statutory requirements.

Experienced required: Suitable experience of design and integration of PLC and SCADA based control system solutions. Hands-on experience with PLC and SCADA based control systems. Interpretation of customer C&I design data (Technical Specifications,C&I Signals Database, Electrical Schematics, P&IDs, Functional Design Specifications/Control Narratives, C&Es, Interface Specifications, etc.). Ability to generate technical documentation to a high standard (technical manuals, architecture diagrams, block diagrams, test specifications,etc.). Interpretation, management and implementation customer change requests(understands change process and configuration control procedures etc.). Experience within defence, maritime, Oil & Gas, aerospace, or a similarly regulated industrial sector. Degree, HND, HNC or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic engineering or a related discipline. Experience with configuration management and change control systems.
