What is the purpose of the role?

To ensure effective continuous improvement and quality control, so that the contractor's field teams undertake work as per the standards specified in the contracts, and that all work is delivered in an efficient manner whilst complying with current legislation. To work alongside other departments within Thames Water, assisting with projects and other continuous improvement initiatives.

What makes this role unique?

This is an exciting and integral role within the business, and within a small and supportive team that covers the whole Thames Valley region. There is a certain amount of time management ownership and autonomy with established targets and tasks to complete. The location for this role is flexible and dependent on the successful candidate's personal location, but it will involve significant travel and therefore a company car/car allowance forms part of the remuneration package.

What will this role involve?

Duties will include but not be limited to:

Household and non-household revenue metering, non-revenue metering, monitoring leakage and usage and customer side leak repairs as well as stop valve replacement, acoustic logging and investigative work on meters.

Liaising with and auditing service provider teams/gangs in the field to ensure work is undertaken in accordance with the provisions of the contracts and all relevant statute/bylaws, health, safety & wellbeing and CDM procedures and legislation.

Ensuring that defects are rapidly brought to the service provider's attention and are remedied in a timely manner and also to liaise with Thames Water quantity surveyors when necessary regarding payments and charges.

Reviewing contractor gang activities and behaviour, and working practices to identify and implement continuous improvement activities relating to costs to the customer, time efficiencies and quality of work and service.

Undertaking a planned programme of audits of works that are already in progress, and inspections of completed works (post fits) which are to be recorded and saved.

Working with other departments to help deliver new continuous improvement initiatives around properties without meters, and failed or missed appointments.

Driving improvements in performance, customer service also including cost and risk avoidance.

Supporting the non- household metering team with difficult and non-standard installations/surveys.

Adapting to and driving change as per business requirements.

Supporting customer cases as required.

What are we looking for?

To be considered for this role you will have previous or existing experience within a property maintenance or mechanical engineering sector, and preferably with plumbing experience with a relevant qualification. You may have CIS experience and a good level of IT skills, especially Excel. Have past experience within a health and safety focussed environment and possibly have knowledge of the New Roads & Street Works Act (NRSWA).

In addition we are looking for someone with excellent people and customer service skills and possibly with experience of meter reading and installation. Be a decision maker who is able to plan, organise and report findings with commercial awareness. If you have previous experience in the water industry, that would be preferable however by no means essential. Previous experience of working in a multi-functional, customer centric, geographical dispersed area would be highly advantageous.

Thames Water information and salary details

This is a field based role which will form part of a small team that covers the Thames Valley region, and can be based from any of our sites in the area. Due to the nature of the role, travel will be required across the region so you must possess a full UK driving licence.

We are offering a salary of up to £39,100 depending on skills and experience. In addition a company car or car allowance with be provided.
