Content Design Manager

Location: London, Edinburgh, Bristol or Lisbon

The OVO Group’s mission is to drive progress towards net zero carbon living. To reach zero, we need everyone to come together. Not as customers buying energy, but as members with a common goal.

Part of OVO Group, Kaluza is the leading intelligent energy platform powering the future of energy. From revolutionising billing to smart electric vehicle charging, Kaluza’s real-time cloud platform empowers some of the biggest energy suppliers to optimise their operations and invest in innovating for tomorrow’s customers. Driving decarbonisation, Kaluza intelligently manages the charging of smart home technologies, reducing customers’ energy bills and laying the foundations for a more flexible, cheaper and greener energy system. -******

Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

At Kaluza our Design team is growing and we’re looking for a Content Design Manager to join us and manage a small but growing team of writers. You will set the highest standards for writing across the organisation, and ensure all our product teams have the support they need. This could be product-related – microcopy, contextual help, product launches and technical documentation – or for marketing pitches, people policies, contracts and internal comms.

Kaluza is shaping the future: a distributed, consumer-centric energy system providing clean, affordable energy for everyone. Orion is our flexible software platform which enables energy suppliers to provide a simple, transparent, reliable experience to their customers. Flex is our intelligent technology platform which aims to unlock the benefits of renewable energy and smart devices to help decarbonise the grid.

You’ll help us create better tools and services so we can power the UK’s clean energy Future.

You’ll be joining a large and highly collaborative team with a startup mentality matched with the resources of the UK’s largest independent energy supplier. If you’re looking for something to challenge you, this is a great opportunity.

What will I be doing?

* Creating strategic writing frameworks, leading writing/copy projects and managing writers.
* Identifying copywriting needs and opportunities across Kaluza, including pitch decks, people policies, internal comms, brand and marketing.
* Developing our tone-of-voice in partnership with creative teams. Applying this to improve micro-copy, help content, transactional comms and documentation.
* Building a high-functioning and self-sufficient copywriting team and practice.
* Establishing strong relationships with our product squads and teams, raising the visibility of the writing practice.
* Creating training resources to upskill others so that the overall quality of writing improves and scales.
* Consistently producing high-quality work to tight deadlines.
* Brainstorming creative concepts with team members and improving team processes.

Is this the job for me?

* Knowledge of product and engineering processes.
* Knowledge of documentation processes.
* Experience creating content strategies.
* Impeccable spelling and knowledge of grammar and a natural and original writing style.
* A calm persona with an ability to think creatively whilst having excellent attention to detail.

You’ll love working with us if you...

* Have a passion for understanding real people’s problems.
* Have a critical thinking process and enjoy studying problems to puzzle out the
* Challenges.
* Recognise assumptions (including your own) and seek ways to try and invalidate them.
* Have a diverse and evolving toolbox of methods and techniques for visualising problems that can be solved with a better copy.
* Are empathetic with colleagues, as well as customers, especially when you’re
* Communicating research findings, explaining the rationale behind a narrative, or challenging ways of working.
* Know your strengths, and recognise there’s always more to learn from others
* Embrace agility and iteration, and celebrate learning and change.

From us you’ll get* * An annual discretionary bonus.
* 4% of your salary to spend on flexible lifestyle benefits.
* 5% matched employer contribution to your pension.
* 25 days annual leave (+ your birthday off and bank holidays on top).
* Blended approach to office/home working.
* And many more...

At OVO, we empower our people to have choice around where and when they work - flexible working arrangements can be discussed for all of our roles. Please speak to the Talent Acquisition team for more info.

We’re keen to meet people with varied backgrounds - our view is the more inclusive we are, the better our work will be. We want to build teams which represent a variety of experiences, perspectives and skills, and we recognise talent on the basis of merit and potential.
