Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Process & Energy are recruiting an experienced Construction Manager to join our business on an initial 12 month Fixed Term Contract. The role will ideally based in our Darlington office and would suit anyone with construction experience overseeing electric charge point installations.

Responsibilities and Duties

* Ensures that all Project / Company HSE goals are achieved and where possible exceeded.
* Ensures that all construction personnel at both Project and Corporate level are aware of / implement safe working practices / procedures and are provided with a safe working environment.
* Delivers a high standard construction capability at both Project and Corporate levels, ensuring a consistent and efficient approach is implemented at all times.
* Implementation of a continuous improvement philosophy across the construction function, delivering best practices at all times.
* Management and support of all construction personnel.
* Maintains and delivers the construction function within budget, and, where applicable, implement cost saving initiatives.
* Studies and assess's the relevant drawings, specifications, and instructions for his specific or functional area of responsibility.
* To review, in co - operation with the Project Manager and agree the overall site programme for the area of responsibility including Sub - contractors’ programmes.
* Ensures before any work commences, that all items of material, equipment, scaffolding etc required are available to avoid abortive and unproductive use of labour.
* Maintains primary contact and a good working relationship with sub - contractors site representatives.
* Ensures that all Sub - contractors employed within area of responsibility are fully aware of their obligations and responsibilities.
* Ensures that all work is to the required standard and that all drawings, specifications, inspections, and certifications are strictly adhered to.
* Constantly reviews progress and monitor programmes, updating the latter when necessary in conjunction with the Project Services Manager.
* Co-ordinate and report on a weekly and monthly basis on all progress matters and problem areas.
* Ensures that all Company systems of Quality Assurance are adhered to and assist the Project Quality Manager in the completion of site system test sheets and the test dossier.
* Responsible for the Health and Safety of all personnel working in the area or areas within the site complex.

Skills / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

* Time served relevant trade discipline or relevant NVQ/SVQ/HNC/HND
* Equivalent experience in a construction related position.

Minimum Experience:

* Significant, demonstrable experience within a relevant construction management environment
* Exposure to working within a technical environment.
* Experience of people management (construction).
* Sufficient experience within Lead role.

Role-Specific Skills:

* Excellent interpersonal organisational, communication and team building skills.
* Excellent verbal/written communication, problem solving, and decision-making skills
* Computer literate.
* Fully conversant with regards to discipline technical knowledge.
* Proven experience of interpreting discipline documentation.
* Sound knowledge and understanding of Risk Assessments (RA), Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPS) and Hazard Identification Studies (HAZIDS).
* Ability to work with timelines/targets.
* Display both good judgment and leadership qualities.
* Ability to be assertive and drive culture change when required.
* Ability to advise system and subsystem priorities within construction activities with a view to achieving early handover.
* Ability to monitor work progress and report against the plan.
