Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Construction Manager with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry for a project based in our Aberdeen office in Altens.

Key responsibilities: -

* Responsible for management of all construction and commissioning activities on a major North Sea modifications contract
* Managing and leading all construction and commissioning direct reports to ensure delivery against milestones and Key Performance Indicators (KPI's)
* Driving safety leadership and ensuring safe delivery of multi-discipline work scopes
* Excellent technical knowledge of construction discipline and associated processes
* Providing construction discipline expertise and guidance to the contract/client
* Provide discipline input to scope definition and execution
* Reviewing planned activities for constructibility, providing accurate feedback
* Strategic oversight of all activity in the portfolio, actively seeking out efficiency opportunities and advising the client accordingly
* Ability to identify risk to delivery and build in mitigation / contingency plans
* Work as part of the contract management team to deliver and develop the contract
* Set and apply strategic and tactical direction with regard to procedures, work force staffing, and budgeting
* Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of technical specifications and mentor direct reports
* Display and apply knowledge of site safe working practices and client safety procedures and standards
* Demonstrate Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) leadership in line with company expectations
* Responsible for assessing effectiveness of working practices and systems with a view to continuously improving systems, personal and team performance
* Be aware and understand the business drivers within the client organisation and how these can be influenced by innovative designs and minimum cost solutions
* Management of key stakeholders in the execution and delivery of contracted activities

Skills / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

* Time served relevant trade discipline or relevant NVQ/SVQ/HNC/HND
* MIST/BOSIET

Minimum Experience:

* Brownfield offshore construction experience is essential
* Experience of people management (construction)
* Sufficient experience to lead an extensive team

Role-Specific Skills:

* Excellent interpersonal organisational, communication and team building skills
* Computer literate
* Fully conversant with regards to discipline technical knowledge
* Proven experience of interpreting discipline documentation
* Sound knowledge and understanding of Risk Assessments (RA), Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPS) and Hazard Identification Studies (HAZIDS)
* Ability to work with timelines/targets
* Display both good judgment and leadership qualities
* Ability to be assertive and drive culture change when required
* Ability to advise system and subsystem priorities within construction activities with a view to achieving early handover
* Ability to monitor work progress and report against the plan
