Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Construction Co-ordinator with extensive experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry. This role will be based in Glasgow on a permanent staff basis.

The Role

* Provide construction experience and input to all project phases in order to maximise in house use of construction knowledge and experience.
* Provide construction input into proposals and estimating.
* Development of all aspects with support from HLT Engineer of the project construction strategy including transportation, heavy lifting and installation, development of contracting strategy, selection of sub–contractors, installation sequencing and schedule timings.
* Accountable for the delivery of construction input to projects and proposal and ensuring high standards are maintained and continuously improved.

Responsibilities and Duties

* Develop construction strategies for each project scope and phase.
* Participate in the bidding process and prepare construction proposals and resource estimates.
* Undertake site visits to assess constructability issues.
* Prepare and deliver construction presentations for internal and external meetings.
* Liaise with designers, engineers and Construction Engineering Manager throughout the engineering phase to maximise the use of construction knowledge and experience in all aspects of the project paying particular attention to constructability
* Provide the construction input required in preparing the project schedules.
* Agree with the Project Manager and Project Contracts Engineer the contracting philosophy for the project. Ensure contract documents, specifications etc. are produced to meet the needs of the project schedule.
* Production and development of plans, drawings, specifications, requisitions and bid summaries for all temporary facilities and construction equipment required within the scope of Wood services.
* Develop transportation and lifting schedule from early project information and carry out classification in liaison with Construction Engineering Manager and Wood procedures. In conjunction with Construction Engineering Manager ensure that Wood requirements for Construction Engineering are incorporated into the project and site facilities.
* Review the project estimate to ensure the completeness of scope and correctness of construction input.
* Identify and develop construction deliverables to suit the project requirements, control and schedule them using the Document Management System (WebDMS).
* Review the project requirements, the constructability checklist, develop critical execution issues, the overall schedule and the construction execution plan.
* Review the model Safety Plan and instructions to Contractors, incorporate project specific requirements as required. Develop and issue Project safety procedures and work practices in accordance with Wood procedures and in liaison with the HSSE team.
* Review the model site quality plan instructions to Contractors and other quality procedures and incorporate project specific requirements as required. Develop and issue the project quality plan and procedures in liaison with the Quality team to ensure Wood requirements are incorporated into the site activities.
* Develop Construction organisation charts and manpower projection plans.
* Carry out interviews and briefings to ensure that the needs of the site are met in terms of calibre and numbers of personnel to fulfil the needs of the project schedule.
* Be a point of contact for communications to and from the site. Follow up in the Home Office on issues raised from the site and expedite communications with other involved departments and provide clarifications where necessary

Skills / Qualifications

Essential:

* Minimum HNC in a related Engineering subject
* Recognised Construction/Pharmaceutical background
* Fully conversant with Project Management Systems with extensive knowledge of Project Hook Up / Construction / Commissioning practices and procedures
* IT Literate (Excel / Word / Powerpoint etc) with experience in Completions Management Database

Desirable:

* Degree educated in a related Engineering subject
* NVQ level 4 or 5 in Management
* Conversant with project tender/estimating process
* Accident / Incident Investigation
* Health and Safety Qualification (NEBOSH, IOSH or similar)

Experience

* Demonstrable experience in similar role in Construction Management in the Pharmaceutical Industry
* Demonstrable experience of demolition
* Delivery focused with proven experience in achieving project goals whilst maintain high standards in HSEQ at all times.
* Extensive knowledge of the construction process, its implementation and management. Fully conversant with project management tools
* Experienced in the production of detailed procedures / documents / reports.
* Extensive knowledge of O&G related HSEQ safe working practices/procedures.
* Ability to interface and interact with Management and Client Representatives at all levels.
