Following further contract awards, we are experiencing an increased demand for our services and our strengthened position in the market brings a continuous flow of new and challenging projects. Consequently, we are actively seeking to recruit a professional, career-minded Commercial Manager to join our highly skilled team on a major rail infrastructure project based in the project office in Birmingham.

Your role will be multi-faceted and incorporate a variety of commercial, contractual, risk analysis, project controls and change management aspects, protecting and managing our financial involvement on projects, whilst ensuring risk and commercial mitigation. You will also work with the wider senior management team to develop robust commercial processes and procedures to include contract review and assessment of our liabilities.

Requirements: knowledge, skills and experience required:

* You will be a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyor (MRICS)

* Extensive experience of the commercial management of projects in a civil engineering design consultancy environment

* Experience of controlling commercial aspects on major civil engineering infrastructure schemes

* In-depth working knowledge of NEC contract conditions, design management, programme and risk management and cost control including forecasting, actual cost and value reporting and contractual claims control. Knowledge of FIDIC form of contract also is an advantage

* Previous D&B and JV scheme experience and previous experience of working with contractors

* Excellent negotiation skills and experience

* Experience of pre-qualification and tendering process

* Excellent people management skills with the ability to influence decisions

* Excellent English verbal and written communication and report writing skills

* Problem solving skills and analytical thinking

Role Summary:

Reporting to the Director, you will be you will be accountable for the management of all commercial, contractual and risk elements on designated projects, including financial monitoring and reporting, control and review of the contracts including legal elements, risk analysis / reporting and assessing commercial claims.

Duties & Responsibilities Include:

* Contract review and negotiation

* Produce and analyse progress reports, updated costs and forecasts

* Implement the risk management process, review risk register and check risk controls

* Ensure weekly review of progress, budget resources and forward planning are carried out, and look ahead programmes are in place

* Chair and attend internal and external meetings and ensure the production of accurate records of any discussions and actions

* Ensure monthly and weekly reporting timescales are met

* Ensure final accounts are completed in a timely manner following completion of scope of services

* Track scope changes and associated time and cost impacts

* Responsible for change register

* Coordinate with stakeholders and other JV members

* Build and maintain relationships with both contractor, client and stakeholders
