We’re seeing rapidly changing energy industry landscape and increasing opportunities for business consumers to take opportunities in managing energy demands through utilising onsite generation (CHP, Solar, Storage, EVs), manage efficiency, and capture existing flexibility and DSR across industrial business processes.
In an exciting growth area of CBS, as part of the commercial team this role is at the beating heart of new business, responsible for business case evaluation, commercial input into bid responses, commercial due diligence and contract negotiation, providing support to sales teams to closing deals through liaising with experts across the business from engineering, finance, legal regulation and corporate marketing and development function.
We are looking for a driven individual who has experience negotiating contracts and liaising with business clients to secure construction projects, EPCs and PPAs, across our product range, with a specific focus on new business development areas. This is a great opportunity to play a key role in the development of our business, acting as a commercial leader, particularly with regard to the opportunities from a rapidly changing energy industry.
This role will predominantly focus on specific new growth sectors, providing opportunities for the individual to be a pinnacle of knowledge whilst also working across the business product and technology platforms, including recently acquired companies. As the business grows there will be a need for flexibility and a self-starting attitude to drive the next wave.

This role requires a resilient individual with energy, curiosity and persistence that allows them to drive forward the best commercial solution to meet client business needs, conduct commercial due diligence and maintaining consistent energy to build team commitment.
Competence and knowledge of contract terms and commercial structures is at the foundation of this role, and it requires creative thinking to ensuring a rapid deal qualification to deal closure cycle.
The individual will have a key role in providing product and commercial contract expertise and being a strong commercial representation at executive client meetings.
This person will act as commercial lead to develop leading commercial structures and commercial input to bid responses across the solution range i.e. CHP, solar, storage, DSR and will also lead commercial support for the channel partners to contract closure. This person will be responsible for commercial due diligence, negotiation of commercial terms and conditions and preparation of deal assessments to secure approvals.
The opportunity allows for an ambitious person with broad commercial and energy sector experience to work in a rapid new growth area for Centrica.
Degree qualified preferably in a business, economics, commercial law, financial or engineering discipline
Ideally several year’s energy experience with commercial exposure
Commercial deal closure acumen
Experience working with contract funding structures, service agreements and PPAs an advantage
Demonstrate ability to negotiate and close contracts with a strong working knowledge of key contractual provisions, performance conditions, commercial risk and mitigations
Ability to utilise standard internal processes across functions to reduce closure time for opportunities and advance the deal cycle from qualification to commercial close
Adherence to commercial contract best practice, ethical standards, laws and regulations
Energy industry knowledge with an understanding of economics behind onsite generation preferable, a quick learner with an inquisitive mind
Preferable to have broad energy project development background with considerable exposure to the application of regulatory, compliance, consents and connections requirements to specific projects
Interest in staying abreast of industry changes, having a detailed to the legislation from a technical, legal and commercial viewpoint
The individual should possess a proven track record of continuous improvement, proactively suggesting improved ways of working within the team and the wider organisation

Confident and effective communicator with ability to build relationships at executive level to communicate complex messages to internal and external stakeholders
