What is the purpose of the role?
Due to expansion within our Transport, Fleet and Logistics team we are recruiting for a number of Class 2/HGV Drivers. The Class 2/HGV drivers will work as part of our Logistic Operations team which operates Waste Tankers with jetting capability, Potable Water Tankers and Inventory delivery vehicles to support both reactive and planned work. LMC operate a range of vehicles these include both waste and water tankers, HIAB vehicles from 7.5t up to 26t with beavertail and various vans and trailers.

What will this role involve?
The HGV Driver/Class 2 Driver will be expected to:
Maintain a clean and compliant vehicle.
Drive and operate vehicles, secure parking of your vehicle, complete and record pre and post vehicle checks in line with legislative and company specific requirements.
Record and manage vehicle defects through to repairs completed. Be responsible for ensuring you are competent to use any vehicle prior to taking, using or operating it, through the completion of appropriate training.
Be accountable for the safe and secure loading and unloading of vehicles.
Comply with transport legislation, including drivers' hours regulations and Working Time Directive in line with the 'O' licence legislation and company procedures.
Adopt a safe and fuel efficient approach to driving to minimise the risk to you, other road users, and to optimise vehicle running costs.
Deliver all duties in line with agreed service levels. Undertake periodic driver assessments and relevant refresher training.
What are we looking for?
You will be an experienced HGV driver/class 2 and long term training offered to get your class 1 license. As a minimum, you will have no more than 6 penalty points and no DR or IN convictions on your license. You must also have a full driver CPC and a valid Driver Tachograph card. Ideally you willl have extensive knowledge of driving and operating tankers and HIAB but this can be trained. A demonstrable knowledge of Transport Law and Road Traffic Act is however essential, as well as a working knowledge of Drivers Hours' rules and Working Time regulations. You will have excellent driving skills and road safety knowledge and be commited approach to delivering excellent customer service, with excellent communication skills. The ability to read and complete paperwork accurately is needed with basic numeracy. Experience of Water Tankers, Flat beds and curtain-siders is required as well as having a Blue Card.
Thames Water information and salary details
This is a L8 role based in Mogden, and the basic salary for this role will be £27,000 per year with a 25% unsociable hours shift enhancement for. Average working hours will be around 45 hours per week on a rotating shift pattern to cover a 24/7 operation. This includes weekends, evenings and night working. You will need to have a flexible approach to working additional hours if needed to support with cover for events. During your training and induction period you will be working a shift pattern Monday to Friday between 06:00 and 18:00. You will need to be receptive to travelling to another Thames Water site for your training as this may not be at your base location. In order to be considered for this role you will need to have a valid Class 2 lience and be able to work on a shift pattern. As part of of our recruitment process you will need to undego a driving assessment by our qualifed assessors.
