Kier Utilities keep our telecoms clients’ customers connected to superfast broadband, digital TV and the latest full-fibre gigabit internet services through the design and construction of new fibre networks as well as the maintenance of existing HFC networks.

About the Role

Your role as a Civils Supervisor on Enabling will be predominately be field based monitoring the works of field teams ensuring they are following the correct operating procedures. There will also be a level of surveying that will be completed on pending works to ensure the job is fluid once it comes to the date of completion. You will be working closely with the back office team in Scotland and Street Works teams in Aylesford to ensure all notice and permits are in place for your teams to carry out the daily construction works , you will need to ensure the quality of your teams works ensuring any defects are resolved in timely manner and any issues around poor workmanship are addressed preventing them from reoccurring. You will also be responsible for ensure all works either Construction or Pre-Enabling are to NFSG standards set out by Kier and Virgin Media. You teams will be responsible for completing the under 3 meters civils works required and then the full pre enabling works of pulling in the new cable, completing gardens works and fitting the connections and ETB to high standard.

You will need to monitor the level of stores on the vehicles and plan orders of new materials into Aylesford or Basingstoke so that your teams have material at all times to complete the works required daily. You will need work closely with back office teams and locals Enabling Managers to ensure the orders are closed off as complete and that any issues you find are report back correct , Daily audits of jobs live and retro and daily van invents to ensure the assets are on the vans and the guys are compliant with the kits they have on the vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for LA Inspections and Joint Meetings on Site, ensuring all Time Sheets and Attendance trackers have been completed and any Return to work meetings conducted as well as attending Weekly Calls to cover off Operational Issues. Your role will also include supporting HR Team, Fleet Team, Back office teams with any issues and resolving in timely manner, ensure compliance to all quality and safety standards via Live and Retro checking ensuring all checks are logged correctly on Airs Web or Van App.

You will also be spending as much time in the field as possible daily completing Audits Live and Retro, Van Checks, SLG Checks, coaching and identification of operative training and accreditation requirements, and any support required to ensure all works are completed to SOP, ensuring any defects for your teams are planned in and resolved in timely manner. You will also deal with Complaint Management or Van Damages must be investigated straight away customers contacted and investigations to take place to resolve the issues and prevent them from happening again and updating Crew lists and checking all Operatives have had the correct checks that month.

Skills and experience required:

Essential:

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate good people management skills and a basic understanding of the contract terms and conditions applicable to their work. You will have a good understanding of legislation affecting Kier’s activities in the highway and be able to liaise effectively with Client Management teams, Streetworks and planning representatives and Highways representatives. You will also have an awareness and understanding of the Communications Network Installation Specifications and have current NRSWA qualification to supervisor standard.

It is essential that you have experience in running Direct Labour teams and be experienced in Civils / Construction activities on VM network. You will also be able to work from your own initiative with minimum supervision and cohesively work within a team.

Desirable:

* Experience in all workstreams on the BT Openreach Network.
* COSHH/RIDDOR/Health &Safety at Work – Knowledge of regulations and requirements
