Job Summary

We are seeking a Civil Engineering Modeller to join our Water team to help deliver a range of large and complex water projects. The individual should be interested in developing experience of project work, in areas such as:

*

Hydraulic modelling,

*

Drainage schemes,

*

Outline and / or detailed design of river engineering / water network schemes,

*

Options appraisals,

*

Engineering assessments,

*

Economic appraisal,

*

Engineering calculations,

*

Hydrologic estimation,

*

Flood risk management.

The Role:

You will form part or our strong multi-disciplinary water team, delivering varied and challenging projects for a range of clients. You will work integrally with our teams of engineers, hydraulic modellers, environmental scientists, and technical specialists to deliver a wide range of water industry, flood risk management and drainage projects in the UK and overseas. You will be able to work proactively and collaboratively to solve engineering problems to deliver benefits to the communities that we support.

As an Engineering Modeller you will be responsible for utilising engineering judgement in focussing how a variety of types of modelling is used for the delivery of complex tasks and projects. You should be able to manage the budget and programme for these tasks and projects. You will also support the development of junior members of the team, managing their input into projects and mentoring them

Minimum Requirements

*

Experience of 1D/2D hydraulic modelling of surface water systems and/or watercourses, using Infoworks ICM.

*

Experience using GIS (ArcGIS / MapInfo / QGIS), AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D (or similar).

*

Ability to deliver reports, drawings and contract documents.

*

Experience of dam breech assessment or RIM modelling and wastewater network modelling using market software such as Infoworks ICM/CS, InfoNET, Microdrainage.

*

Knowledge of flood modelling packages such as TUFLOW, Flood Modeller, HEC-RAS

*

Experience of programming for the development of tools related to hydraulic modelling (e.g. Python, Ruby, Mat Lab, VBA).

*

Experience of hydrological assessments with FEH, ReFH2, WINFAP and OPW FSU.

*

Experience of working on projects for Government Authorities dealing with watercourse drainage and flooding or a Water Company as a framework consultant in a related role, including adhering to Industry and Client Design Standards and Modelling Specifications.

*

Experience of undertaking engineering assessments, options appraisals, engineering calculations and / or economic appraisal.

*

Experience of outline and / or detailed design, preferably of wastewater / water treatment schemes and / or flood risk management/ assessment or drainage schemes.

*

Experience of preparing surface water drainage strategies including the design of Sustainable Drainage Systems.

Preferred Qualifications

*

Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering field or equivalent qualification, or demonstrable equivalent experience is required. Master’s degree in relevant subject is preferred.

*

Chartered or working towards Chartered Status with a relevant professional body such as Engineers Ireland, CIWEM or ICE

*

Post-qualification experience within the water sector working for a consultancy is essential.
