About the Transpire Alliance

TRU is a once-in-a-generation rail upgrade programme to deliver faster, longer, more frequent and more reliable rail services across the north of England, from Newcastle, Hull and York towards Manchester and Liverpool via Leeds. By connecting the major cities of the North with an enhanced, more reliable service, it has the potential to impact the lives of thousands of passengers and support economic growth across the whole of the north of England.

Amey, in partnership with Arup, BAM and Network Rail is upgrading the route between Manchester and Leeds, which includes civils, track, railway systems and electrification. The opportunity to use modern digital signalling and train control also means we can lay the foundation for the Digital Railway.

Working with Amey on TRU is essential for anyone serious about a career in rail. You will be pioneering new techniques, using the latest technology and helping us set new standards for collaborative working.

What is the purpose of the role?

Direct report to the Alliance health, safety & wellbeing lead and responsible for Assuring CDM Compliance across the West of Leeds footprint. The main purpose of the role will be to ensure compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 from design, construction through to handover. Our aspirations are to create a health, safety and wellbeing culture that is second to none across the rail and construction industry.

Key responsibilities

* Supporting the development and delivery of the Alliance wide H, S&W strategy.

* Integrating programme and Alliance wide deliverables into current strategies.

* Development and implementation of the Alliance wide CDM Strategy and related documents.

* Supporting the implementation of the H,S&W IMS and Alliance wide management systems.

* Supporting the delivery of the Alliance wide audit and assurance strategy.

* Development and implementation of the Alliance CDM assurance programme to ensure duty holder compliance.

* Ensuring compliance with PMO deliverables and reporting requirements.

* Supporting the H, S&W Lead in the delivery and development of training and initiatives to promote best practice in hazard and risk elimination.

* Embedding the Close Call reporting process in design.

* Data management, monitoring and reporting against Key Result Areas.

* Ensuring the Safe by design principles are being robustly and consistently applied Alliance wide.

* Review and assurance of site monitoring and safety assurance programmes in line with key programme health and safety risks.

* Development of initiatives and training packages.

* Mentorship of Principal Contractor assurance representatives

* Available to work unsociable hours (e.g. nights and weekends) when required by programmed activities.

What we are looking for

* Minimum NEBOSH Diploma qualification working towards CMIOSH.

* Competent in the use of Microsoft Office

* Proven track record in Health & Safety or CDM management

* Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of CDM duty holder roles and responsibilities.

* Experience in the Rail and Construction industry.

* Sufficient experience in Health & Safety Management role.

* Excellent communication / facilitation skills.
