About the role

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a CAD TECHNICIAN to join our Water business unit to work in Peterborough.

Role Purpose:

* Produce Revit models relating to the Civil and Structural design of water and wastewater assets.
* Produce Plant3D models and P&IDs relating to the Mechanical design of water and wastewater assets. Produce Civil3D models relating to the Civil and infrastructure design of water and wastewater assets.
* The CAD Technician shall be experienced in one or more software listed above and open to learning other discipline and software.

What you'll be doing

You will have the following acciountabilities:

* Production of models and drawings.
* Ensure compliance with relevant local and national standards.
* Design of water and wastewater assets (slabs, tanks, structures, pipework, equipments). The CAD Technician will be expected to lead the graphical design and take guidance on the specification from the discipline Engineer. Provide input to the pre-construction Health and Safety Plan, including risk assessments, so that it can be prepared and updated at appropriate intervals.
* Provide input to the Designers Health and Safety File and Quality Assurance File and ensure it is reviewed and updated accordingly
* Ensure that the technical content of all work is carried out in accordance with the agreed timescales and budgets.
* Work directly with the supply chain to gather relevant information relating to the technical specification of the project.
* Work closely with team members from other disciplines to ensure the project requirements are met and drive efficient delivery.
* Participate in project reviews relating to design, progress and construction to receive questions and challenges in a constructive manner.

Who we're looking for

You will have the following qualities and experience:

* Level 5 qualification or higher (as below) in Civil / Structural Engineering diploma of higher education (DipHE)
* foundation degree
* higher national diploma (HND)
* level 5 award
* level 5 certificate
* level 5 diploma
* level 5 NVQ
* Good working experience with Autodesk softwares
* Excellent verbal communication skills
* Fluent in Microsoft Office 360
* Reinforcement detailing
* Reinforcement scheduling
* Concrete specification and design
* Pipework specification and design
* Structural design
* Site surveying using laser scanning
* Incorporation of drone surveys using Autodesk Civil 3D, Plant3D, Revit software

The @one Alliance is a collaborative organisation of consultants and contractors working together to deliver more than half of Anglian Waters capital investment programme.

The Anglian Water @one Alliance will design and build around 800 schemes worth approximately 1.5billion between April 2020 and March 2025, known as AMP7 the current five-year investment period, working closely with Anglian Water operations teams and other key stakeholders.

The contract is for the entire five-year regulatory period, from 2020 to 2025, with extensions which could take it to 2030, making it one of the longest collaborations in the sector. It operates within an alliance of delivery partners set up by Anglian Water.

As a stakeholder within the Anglian Water @one Alliance, Balfour Beatty provide both design and construction services across the whole of Anglian Waters region, which is the largest by geographic area in the UK, stretching from the Humber to the Thames estuary and from Buckinghamshire to the East Coast. Work is mainly focussed on clean water Infrastructure (water mains), but also includes wastewater infrastructure and both water and wastewater non-infrastructure projects, such as treatment works and pumping stations.
