An exciting new opening within Capita Real Estate and Infrastructure for a Building Surveyor who shall work from our prestigious Brindley Place office in Birmingham
About the role
Capita Real Estate and Infrastructure is currently seeking a Building Surveyor in Birmingham. The Building Surveyor will report directly to the Building Surveying Director and work collaboratively with other surveying engineers and commercial departments. The role shall involve acting on behalf of a wide range of clients, including Institutional investors, Property companies and Occupiers. Out client base means there is a requirement to maintain our position as ‘Leaders in Class’ across the full spectrum of building surveying services.
The successful candidate shall be Chartered (MRICS), or close to achieving this status, coupled with proven experience within a Commercial Consultancy

Your responsibilities will involve;
Determining the condition of existing buildings, identifying and analysing defects, including proposals for repair.
Instructing on the preservation/conservation of historic buildings.
Advising on the management and supervision of maintenance of buildings.
Assessing and designing buildings to meet the needs of people with disabilities.
Instructing on construction design and management regulations.
Negotiating dilapidations (when there is a legal liability for a property's state of disrepair).
Carrying out feasibility studies.
Advising on the health and safety aspects of buildings.
Advising on boundary and rights of light disputes and party wall procedures.
Preparing insurance assessments and claims.
Your experience will include:
The successful candidate must be self-motivated and self-sufficient individuals with the ability to forge excellent working relationships with colleagues, peers and key stakeholders across the Capita business and our clients. The ideal candidate will have a professional and can-do attitude, be eager to learn and develop, with good written and verbal communication skills. You will be well presented and client facing, well-organised, self-motivated and able to work on their own as well as working within a team.
The ideal candidate will be Chartered (or close to achieving this status) and have the following experience/qualifications;
Degree level qualification in Building Surveying.
MRICS (Building Surveying).
2 years + PQE or experience within consultancy.
Background in Commercial Consultancy
Clear capability to manage complex issues and deliver results.
Strong pragmatic leadership style, able to manage and maintain accountability at all levels.
Exceptional ability to build client and other stakeholder relationships and influence at all levels.
Commercially focused with strong negotiation skills.
Articulate with excellent presentation and interpersonal skills.
