WSP have an opportunity for experienced Associate Electrical Engineers, in our London office. You will have the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting and prestigious projects in the world. WSP are currently involved in numerous projects which will reshape the landscape and skyline of London. Although a multi-disciplinary consultancy the WSP MEP team are a tight knit group, working closely to deliver some of the largest and most complex buildings in the UK and Europe.

A typical week would include:

* Working in a joint leadership capacity within a mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) discipline team providing design and technical advice in a WSP project manager capacity on a wide range of projects.

* Supervising the completion of detailed designs and supervise the work of others in this function.

* Considering the feasibility of the project specific to the discipline and lead the overall feasibility study for the project.

* Taking responsibility for and direct others in the production of detailed and performance specification for the discipline subject to review by colleagues prior to issue.

* Working with and have an appreciation of the integration of other construction professionals’ requirements for the project

* Ensuring that all work under their control is undertaken to relevant and applicable UK and EU regulations, design guides etc

* Developing and producing reports, specifications, guidance notes and general correspondence ensuring quality and technical quality standards are met

* Effectively utilising and checking work undertaken by others on Amtech and/or, Microsoft office and other software as applicable.

* Ensuring open communication among all project team members ensuring feedback is provided and acted upon efficiently in a timely manner

* Leading and overseeing all site-based activities and deliverables, reviewing the installation of services, witnessing selected testing and commissioning results and commenting on operation and maintenance manuals, providing written reports on design specification compliance

* Attending and contributing to design team meetings, client meetings, pre-contract and post-contract meetings

* Represent WSP at multi discipline meetings where appropriate.

* Effectively delegating and managing work packages ensuring support and guidance is provided to team members including the mentoring of graduates, apprentices, technical and other staff

* Mentoring more junior staff.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

* A relevant degree

* Chartered status (or working towards Chartered status) or equivalent experience

* Strong technical knowledge in primary engineering discipline and relevant UK and EU regulations, design guides, etc

* Strong understanding of the secondary engineering discipline

* IT literate with a technical understanding of relevant IT packages i.e. Amtech, Microsoft office

* The ability to work as part of a team and effectively lead, direct and mentor individuals within and outside of the WSP team

* Strong knowledge of contract administration, procurement and conditions of contract/ appointment

* Experience of fee cost control and resource planning

* A detailed understanding of the IEE Wiring regulations applicable to the discipline and how to demonstrate this through calculation

* Experience of working with RevitMEP or other 3D design software

* A working knowledge of AutoCAD

* Switch room and plant room planning and riser sizing

* Utility load estimations and negotiations with the providers

* Understanding of key legislation

* Manual double line and single line co-ordination

* A working knowledge of the Microsoft office suite of software (in particular Excel)

* The ability to lead the demonstration of our design to the design team and client
