Job Summary

AS part of our growth strategy we are currently seeking to appoint an Associate Director who is a strategic thinker and self-starter, to support the growth and delivery of our Strategic Advisory team. The Strategic Advisory business spearheads the breadth of AECOM’s capabilities, providing key decision-making advice to clients around policy, strategy, planning, innovation and change. Our vision within Strategic Advisory is to be a leader in infrastructure strategic advice, shaping the future debate on policy and planning to help our clients realise future thinking now.

The aim of this role is to develop, lead and deliver projects and make this vision a reality as part of a team, positioning AECOM as a more strategic partner and leader in the market place enabling AECOM to grow with higher profitability.

The role will be external facing; developing relations with key clients and delivering high quality strategic projects. A strategic thinker and self-starter; success requires a strong external focus, strengthening the AECOM brand at a senior level with key client organisations. Through these relationships it is anticipated that the role will help identify and secure commissions, building a reputation for advising clients at the outset of their challenges.

The key features of the role are:

1.

Effective relationships with external Clients, and a good understanding of industry challenges.

2.

Operate in a collaborative spirit to make the best use of available resources across AECOM

3.

Support the delivery of the Strategic Advisory Strategy to build the team, create a profitable unit and a recognisable brand within agreed timescales

4.

Development and delivery of projects/ advice to high quality and client satisfaction.

5.

Actively participate in developing client relationships leading to the winning of work, development of the market with the Director of Strategic Advisory, to create the necessary pipeline of work to support continuing growth.

6.

Lead/Support the delivery of bids through early client engagement, translating win themes into winning bid submissions

7.

Support the identification of areas of skill set development in Strategic Advisory within UK&I and wider opportunities across EMEA. Support to grow and develop capabilities and skills as part of the wider EMEA Advisory team.

8.

Strategic thinker and self-starter adding to a positive culture of the team.

9.

Undertake Health & Safety duties including ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for the project team members and fulfilling all responsibilities for health and safety in design.

10.

Champion and integrate Sustainable Development and innovation into the work environment and projects delivery.

Skills and Experience

*

In-depth knowledge of an infrastructure sector, macro trends and boardroom challenges.

*

Relevant academic professional qualifications to reflect the level of seniority of the role, preferably an MBA.

*

Excellent communicator - a leader and champion of the business with excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to liaise/ present directly with our Clients.

*

An experienced Project Delivery Director and/or successful Bid Director

*

Strategic thinker with significant experience in policy development and strategy.

*

Managing stakeholders and Delivering high-quality advice/solutions in complex environments with multiple stakeholders.

*

Line management and mentor experience

As an Associate Director in AECOM you would:

*

Lead teams and/or programmes with moderate to high levels of complexity

*

Analyse complex issues and be accountable for solving challenging problems

*

Be accountable for the performation and results for your area and projects

*

Work collaboratively with the ability to make autonomous decisions in line with and supportive of AECOM strategy

Contribute to AECOM’s Strategic Advisory business strategy and planning

Minimum Requirements

*

In-depth understanding of at least one of the transport, water, energy infrastructure sectors

*

Experience within a client-side organisation

*

Experience of policy and/or strategy development

*

Extensive experience of stakeholder engagement in complex environments

Preferred Qualifications

* Relevant academic or professional qualifications to reflect the level of seniority of the role, preferably an MBA.
