Job Summary

AECOM has a new job vacancy for a Technical Director or Associate Director to be based in Glasgow. This is a great opportunity for a highly experienced Structural Engineer with a proven track record in project delivery, team development, work winning and client management to developed and grow with us in Scotland.

As a Technical/Associate Director, you will have the opportunity to lead and shape the local structural engineering team. You will also be a key member of the Buildings & Places leadership team driving the growth of the business across the Scottish Region.

Job duties

You will be responsible for the structural engineering design of complex engineering projects and the mentoring and managing of our existing Engineering teams.

As an Associate/Technical Director with AECOM you will need to be comfortable managing projects and have experience in leading both formal progress meetings with clients and informal design workshops with other members of the Design Team.

You will be responsible for high level reporting and management and will require strong communication and prioritisation skills to manage expectations and produce positive outcomes from both external and internal situations. You will have technical experience in conceptual design to create cost-efficient engineering solutions with various construction materials.

You will be proficient in the use of various design analysis software in the delivery projects and be able to collaborate with management and demonstrate ideas on how to improve our team internally. You will also be able to maintain an outstanding technical quality, be interested in new Engineering products and technologies and strive for successful outcomes.

A significant part of your role will be client facing, identifying new leads and securing new and repeat business. You will therefore need to be adept at engaging with clients and other professionals at the inception stage of projects and using your engineering expertise to make a significant contribution to emerging design concepts. Ideally you will have already established relationships that you are able to explore to secure opportunities.

Minimum Requirements

*

Chartered Membership with the IStructE (preferred) or ICE

*

University Engineering Degree of BEng, MSc or Meng or Equivalent

*

Work experience within a similar consultancy or other relevant business

*

Ability to deliver design solutions, assessment calculations, lead teams and successfully manage projects.

*

A solid track record of having worked on a variety of structures projects, possibly as project leader on some, with experience of dealing directly with clients.

Preferred Qualifications

*

Ideally you will live locally to the office or be willing to relocate

*

Experience designing in post-tensioned concrete is not essential, but advantageous.
