Job Title: Assistant Engineering Geologist / Geotechnical Engineer
Reports to: Associate (Geotech)
Main Purpose of the Job
We are looking for an Assistant Geotechnical Engineer with drive and enthusiasm, and who is keen to develop their geotechnical assessment and design skills. You must be able to demonstrate a knowledge of and have an interest in the fundamental principles of geotechnical engineering. You must also be able to demonstrate some experience in the design and/or reporting of ground investigations and be able to interpret ground conditions.
Main Duties and Responsibilities;
Duties will include preparation of desk studies and interpretative reporting, problem solving, foundation design and slope stability assessments.
Working knowledge of Word, Excel and advantageous if some experience of using slope analysis and/or geotechnical software.
Willingness to work both in the north and further afield.
Projects include rail, highways, infrastructure and development with clients including developers, major contractors, local authorities, major infrastructure suppliers and Network Rail.
What Qualifications, Experience & Skills are; Essential or Preferred to be successful in the role?
Degree in engineering geology, civil engineering or similar.
Post graduate MSc in geotechnical engineering, engineering geology, soil mechanics, foundation engineering etc.
Ideally 1 to 2 years relevant post-graduate experience.
Previous experience of an engineering organisation.
Working knowledge of Word and Excel software.
Report writing experience.
Excellent written and spoken English and a valid UK driving licence.
Familiarity with or working knowledge of common geotechnical design software.
