What is the Role?

Working within our Transmission Development Team as an Assistant Development Project Manager (APM), you’ll be supporting the Development Project Manager to manage Large Capital Projects for the Transmission Business, delivering substation, overhead line and cable projects ranging in value from £10m to £2bn.

1. Working alongside the Development Project manager, the APM will support and / or manage a multi-disciplinary project team to deliver key work packages of larger capital projects up to the project construction phase. This will include assessing project feasibility, development of options and initial designs, submission of Planning Applications and delivery of key project Governance documentation.

2. Supporting the Development Project Manager to assess project feasibility, development of routes and onshore site selection, selection of appropriate technologies to meet project requirements, coordination of key surveys and studies to inform designs, coordinating initial design works, acquisition of land rights and wayleaves, submission of Planning Applications and coordinating key submissions to the Regulator.

3. Implementing and managing project programmes, costs, resource schedules and relevant plans. Ensuring that a practicable and cost-effective scheme is developed and meeting project time, quality and cost parameters

4. Assisting with the role of Principal Designer under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and maintaining safety, health and environmental performance and standards

5. Ensuring thorough preparation for the construction phase of the project and providing a detailed handover to the Delivery Project Manager

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

1. A Degree in an Engineering discipline, Project Management or related analytical area would be an advantage as would a minimum two years’ experience with infrastructure, energy, large scale project development or construction.

2. Experience of managing and or supporting on developing, and reporting on significant project budgets.

3. Knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other key relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.

4. Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams delivering multiple project outputs to inform key processes such as Planning Applications, Tenders and Design Works during development through the optioneering and initial design phases.

5. A positive project-oriented attitude with an ability to problem solve, deliver to timescales and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
