To provide support and work primarily (initially) with the Croydon Office teams across C&I to provide commercial and PMO support to major projects, throughout all stages of the project lifecycle. Likely to be embedded in one or more major project teams.
AECOM’s commercial function is designed to link the operational requirements of the business with the key corporate functions such as finance, legal and risk. By supporting the Commercial Director and Commercial Managers and working closely with the Project Management teams on major schemes, AECOM can ensure our bids and projects are commercially robust; ensuring that the contractual mechanisms for change control, invoicing and financial reporting have been proactively managed.
You will be required to work and provide commercial support and guidance on project(s), ensuring that all commercial aspects of the project are delivered in accordance with the plan and budget on a project by project basis. This may involve managing small teams of commercial assistants and the management of Subcontractors / Sub-Consultants.
NEC 3 experience preferred but must have an understanding of Consultant’s obligations and contractual processes, understanding and interpreting a contract, knowledge of risk and opportunities
Provide risk and commercial advice during the project lifecycle to assess performance and provide support to the project team, market sector and/or business development leadership.
With support from the finance function, provide effective reporting and forecasting of the commercial performance of a project to the business.
Where necessary, import and co-ordinate / manage cost control procedures to ensure projects are delivered on budget;
Ensure changes are managed rigorously with a focus on commercial implications of change, manage commercial risk and opportunity generally.
Ensure that programmes and delivery schedules are monitored and managed, explore opportunities for early delivery and assist in mitigation measures when delivery is delayed;
Ensure that activities meet both internal company standards and external regulatory requirements
Apply contractual mechanisms, preparation or review of CE quotations and manage / assist negotiation to agreement;
Attend any required progress meetings and change control meetings with the client and internal teams;
Input to Risk Register and assessment of risk allowance in financial reporting, review of any risk registers periodically and ensure risk (value) and likelihood of occurrence are in balance;
Work with AECOM discipline leads to identify and assess change
Support and co-ordinate internal AECOM reporting processes, Earned Value Management and EAC’s,
Subcontract Management and administration, to replicate the management of the AECOM contract to own Subconsultants, this could include drafting (or assisting with) Sub-Consultancy agreements, payment applications and invoices, assessments of change and programme, review of cost issued and cost to complete,
Undertake regular programme and cost reconciliation
Preferably a degree in a civil engineering / quantity surveying, finance or law. Post graduate business qualifications are highly advantageous.
A qualification in accountancy, surveying or law e.g. ACCA, ACMA, CPA, MRICS, Law Society would be advantageous but not essential.
