Assistant Civils Project Manager

What is the Role?

The Assistant Project Manager (Civils) key responsibilities are;

1. Learning from the project team on site issues and civils design and construction to deliver key civils works

2. Developing an understanding of the programme and key responsibilities for managing a team of planners by supporting the Lead Project Managers and Project Managers while gaining skills in contract management by assisting the PMs on the Civils package

3. Growing in terms of future development, getting experiences across new technologies such as HVDC and cable construction

4. Monitoring site progress and ensuring accurate reporting back of activities on site

5. Visiting the sites across Scotland and deputising for team members and working with key stakeholders including: SSE distribution, Shetland Islands Councils, The Highland Council, SEPA, Historic Scotland

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

1. A broad understanding of project management methodology and practice who ideally is looking to progress their career in project management

2. You will have an understanding of the Transmission Business and the regulated environment that we operate in and will have a background in either the Transmission industry, or construction, or the utilities sector on major projects.

3. A strong engineering and construction knowledge including applicable safety and CDM regulations is also essential to this role.

4. Experience in the reporting and management requirements that come with such a role and have a track record in successful delivery of projects and an understanding of developing and managing integrated project programmes.

5. Strong communication skills both written and verbally are required for this role and you should be capable of representing SHE Transmission with outside organisations.

The Project

The Transmission Offshore Delivery Team is responsible for delivering our approved connection from the Scottish mainland to the Shetland Isles. The project scope includes the construction of an HVDC converter station, AC substation and 10km of underground HVDC cables on the Shetland mainland. On the Scottish mainland an HVDC Switching Station and 2.5km of land cables and jointing will establish a multi-terminal HVDC system with the existing Caithness-Moray HVDC Link.
