Description

Background:

Citi’s Market Data Technology team comprises Operational and Engineering functions with staff based in New York, London, Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo. The Market Data technology team are responsible for distribution of real-time market data to all Citi franchises, but primarily the ICG trading functions. This role is an opportunity for an individual with proven Market Data technical skills to move into a senior leadership role overseeing the delivery and development of services to ensure continued robust delivery whilst minimizing costs effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

Functional Responsibilities:

• Provide global oversight of existing Market Data Operations and Engineering functions
• Act as point of escalation for all application service interruptions; oversee all crisis and incident management processes.

• Collaborate closely with vendors providing Market Data services to Citi

• Responsible for interface with Market Data Business Expense Transparency team to ensure technical and commercial drivers are aligned and understood to deliver best value for Citi

• Ensure ongoing dialog with TPU to ensure vendor management is compliance with Citi policies

• Ensure change is managed with appropriate controls, clear documentation and necessary approvals

• Manage and resolve incidents; provide recommendations; escalate to senior management. Ensure at all times that incident duration and severity is minimized.

• Manage and maintain all disaster recovery plans and oversee appropriate testing.

• Infrastructure and application capacity planning and fail-over recovery testing.

• Participate in Critical Site Tests and COB test for supported applications

• Lead and deliver local staff forums, present global, regional and location news and updates so that team feel engaged in the progress of the organization

• Prepare and present team/project reviews on a regular basis to senior management

Leadership Responsibilities:

• Contribute to define and Implement best practices and process for the department. Ensure transparency and consistency across teams in the region and globally.

• Ensure team adheres to best practices in all endeavors

• Develop strong relationship with the infrastructure and other functional support teams to drive efficiency

• Set measurable / challenging goals for self and team ensuring continuous improvement and self-development of staff

• Ensure development and succession plans are in place for staff

• Supervise direct reports and their activities effectively, including effective record keeping and documentation of key people issues. Ensure direct reports and management teams are competent and have clearly defined responsibilities, both collectively and individually in line with the five pillars of supervision excellence:

• Performance Management: Comply with HR performance processes by setting objectives for all direct reports and conducting mid/full year performance reviews.

Qualifications

Essential Skills

Application Support

- Significant experience of Market Data distribution within a Tier 1 bank

- Experience with Market Data content from that major providers – Thomson Reuters, Bloomberg, Factset

- Experience working in a Front Office or other Markets oriented production support desk

- Demonstrated ability to efficiently troubleshoot in time critical scenarios ensuring severity and impact are minimized in all cases

Technology:

- Linux (RedHat or other major distro)

- Market Data distribution platforms (TREP, MAMA)

- Messaging middleware (Solace, Tibco RV/RVRD)

- Strong networking skills, especially multicast

- Monitoring tools (ITRS)

- Understanding of IPC (Incident, Problem, Change)

- Management methodologies

Infrastructure:

- Performance Analysis/Troubleshooting

- Understanding and experience of wide scale distributed environments

- Ability to analyse and trouble shoot a wide range of network and Infrastructure issues

Additional Skills (preferable)

Application Support

- Strong knowledge of Microsoft based operating systems

- Experience using/troubleshooting Office with emphasis on Word, Excel and PowerPoint

- Knowledge of Excel Plugins – VBA, Macro development

Automation

- Practical experience working with manual or laborious tasks and deriving scope/plan from existing established state to deliver a highly refined and automated replacement

- Work developing and improving monitoring toolset in Geneos/ITRS framework a plus

- Strong interpersonal and people leadership skills; Commercially driven and aware of market trends

- Committed to making the Bank a better place through the application of technology; Able to adapt to a rapidly changing working environment

- Strong organizational and team management skills; Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines whilst maintaining transparency to users and management alike.
