Profile

In the Aerospace Engineering discipline we are looking for graduates wanting a career in aircraft test and evaluation to join our team of over 120 experts. You will develop the skills needed to contribute to the delivery of a wide range of programmes for military, government and commercial customers which will include providing advice on the safety and fitness for purpose of manned and unmanned air vehicles.

As a Flight Physicist you will assess and report on the performance and flying qualities of aircraft using data from modelling, simulation, wind tunnel testing and flight testing. You will build up a good understanding of aircraft performance and flying qualities for a range of different platform types.

Duties & Responsibilities

You could be responsible for:
- Conducting evidence based desktop data analysis and making judgements on the safety and fitness for purpose of air platforms in the field of aircraft performance and flying qualities
- Developing substantiated recommendations and writing reports
- Understanding the role of various types of aircraft and working closely with Test Pilots and military customers and colleagues
- Supporting flight test activities within QinetiQ or with an aircraft manufacturer as part of a Combined Test Team either in the UK or internationally
- Leading flight test activities with QinetiQ either in the UK or internationally

Joining QinetiQ you would:
- Work in multidisciplinary teams delivering projects to a wide range of military, government and commercial customers
- Determine the best way for our customers to deliver military or civil capability
- Be part of a two year graduate programme allowing you to develop your technical expertise whilst getting the opportunity to experience a wider range of experience as well
- Get access to training to develop your technical and leadership skills
- Get the opportunity to support community projects, for example acting as a STEM ambassador to local schools

Entry Requirements

To apply for the role you MUST meet the following criteria;
- Have attained, or are about to attain a minimum of a 2:1 Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering or a related degree
- Have a keen interest in and understanding of aviation
- Be willing to learn, and have demonstrated an aptitude for learning at pace
- Be good at working with a range of people and be a good communicator
- Have a keen interest in technology and engineering
- Hold full British Citizenship

These restrictions mean that you must hold full British citizenship and obtain the right to stay and work within the UK.
