QinetiQ are looking for either a Aeronautical AvionicTutor or Trainee Tutor to join our Apprentice Training School team based at MOD Boscombe Down.

Purpose of Job
To train, support and develop Avionic trade Apprentices within the Engineering Technician Apprenticeship; and for the Assessment of the Level 2 and Level 3 Competence qualifications. The role will also provide tutorial and pastoral support across the school.

Specific responsibilities for which the post holder has a requirement to deliver (Tutor role) or deliver under the guidance of a mentor (Trainee Tutor role):
•Responsible for delivery of both theoretical and practical lessons in the relevant subject areas including aviation maths and science.
•Identifying needs of learners and using teaching methods accordingly;
•Responsible for the preparation of schemes of work, lesson plans and learning material, in accordance with the QATS Quality Management System;
•Evaluating and assessing learners performance and documenting progress;
•Responsible for Performance management for named learners;
•Ensuring all learner progress reports are completed on time, to the correct standard;
•Responsible for undertaking internal and external courses as required to ensure own CPD is maintained and competency to fulfil role is maintained;
•Contributing to course design, programming, planning and aspects of delivery where required;
•Identification, support to and sharing of, continuous improvement and best practice with rest of Tutors and QATS staff team
•Responsible for timely completion, and provision of support for Development Competence assessment for named learners.
•Contribute to review and discussion of course structure and deliver
•Willing to work towards a recognised teaching qualification (trainee Tutor role only)

Knowledge, Skills required - Tutor role
•Relevant and recent knowledge of an educational environment;
•Knowledge of Avionics Subjects
•Experience of development competence/NVQ assessment and ideally of Internal Quality Assurance;
•Knowledge of Safeguarding practices;
•Excellent relationship building skills;
•Strong team working ethic.
•Knowledge of Ofsted requirements

Knowledge, Skills required – Trainee Tutor role
•A willingness to understand the role of a tutor in an educational environment
•Knowledge of Avionics Subjects
•Some experience of the assessment process and ideally of Internal Quality Assurance;
•Knowledge of Safeguarding practices;
•Excellent relationship building skills;
•Strong team working ethic.

•Recognised teaching qualification
•Qualification of minimum L3 Aeronautical engineering, with Avionics specialisation (or demonstrable evidence to demonstrate competency)
•Relevant experience of working within an industry, education and training environment

•Qualification of minimum L3 Aeronautical engineering, with Avionics specialisation (or demonstrable evidence to demonstrate competency)
•Relevant experience of working within an industry, education and training environment

Desirable qualifications - Tutor role
•Degree or Level 4 in an Aeronautical engineering environment.
•Recognised Assessor qualification
