Graduate Level Apprenticeship – Mechanical Engineering Apprentice

Thales Glasgow, Strathclyde designs a range of state-of-the-art optronics solutions for the some of the most technically advanced defence and security platforms in the world.

As a Mechanical Engineer in our Glasgow, Strathclyde office, you will work as part of a development team and be responsible for technical contributions towards leading edge naval or land based products. This is a great opportunity to work on the latest defence equipment and develop the new systems for the MoD and a wide range of customers around the world. This position will challenge your skills and you will have the flexibility to mould the role to suit your strengths and career development interests.

Key Responsibilities:

* MCAD design and development
* Environmental testing and product qualification
* Design for manufacture for mechanical designs
* Building prototypes for test and development

The Programme:

Through our apprenticeship you’ll be making the most of your talents, getting to understand mechanical engineering from the ground up; and doing so with the help of one of the biggest and best names in the industry.

As a Mechanical Engineering Apprentice you will be studying at The University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Strathclyde, towards a BEng (Hons) Engineering Design & Manufacture. During this 4 year apprenticeship you will acquire knowledge through blended and online learning with a strong emphasis on work based learning.

Upon completion of the programme you will transition into a permanent role within our Land and Air Systems business in Glasgow, Strathclyde.

Who we’re looking for:

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are motivated, committed and keen to learn. A self-starter who is able to manage their time, show initiative and has a genuine interest in engineering and Thales. Successful candidates will show self-discipline and an aspiration to achieve a degree qualification.

You will also need:

Candidates will need at least four Higher qualifications grades AABB including Maths, Physics and another STEM based subject

Right to Work in the UK for the duration of the programme.
