Mechanical Design Trainee (Software)

As a Mechanical Engineer Trainee, you will be working under the guidance of the Mechanical Design Work Package Manager and be involved in all aspects of the mechanical product life cycle including specification, concept generation, design, implementation, integration, test and in-service support.

Key Responsibilities:

* Assist in the production of innovative and unique solutions in the design, development and delivery of mechanical hardware
* Interaction with aerodynamics, manufacturing, procurement and supply base to ensure optimised, robust, cost effective designs
* Maintain processes and procedures related to Mechanical Hardware Development
* Advise specialists of technology developments in the mechanical area including methodologies and selection of tools
* Contribute to project work packages within the company
* Participate in and contribute to company continuous improvement projects

This opportunity is within the Land and Air Systems business in Belfast.

Who we’re looking for:

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are motivated, committed and keen to learn. A self-starter who is able to manage their time, show initiative and has a genuine interest in engineering and Thales. Successful candidates will show self-discipline and an aspiration to build a career within the engineering function.

You will also need:

Candidates will be on track to or have attained a minimum 3 A Levels (at least 2 subjects in Mathematics, Science, Technology, or Computing) with predicted/attained grades 3B’s, or equivalent qualifications (e.g. BTEC Level 3 in a STEM subject or Engineering).

Closing date: Our applications will close at 11.59pm on Friday 3rd January 2020, this is the only time we will be accepting applications this year. Please note, we will be in contact by the end of January 2020 with details of next steps.

All apprentices require full Security Clearance in line with United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) requirements- to gain clearance you will typically need to have been a UK resident for a minimum of five years. As part of this process you will be asked to provide evidence of your identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment and/or education history.
